Toy Review: The Minna Life Ola Touch Sensitive Vibrator

Guys, it’s happened again; I’m in love. This shouldn’t come as a surprise for some. My love affair with Minna began with the Limon and seems to be ongoing. You see, for me the Limon was a perfect match—a toy that I could claim total control over as it intuitively responded to me every touch. Minna’s squeezable control technology is responsible for this, as all you need to do is squeeze a certain area of their toys to control the vibration intensity (among other things). The Limon impressed me with this but the Ola was what started it all.

I was provided with the Ola by SexToys.co.uk and jumped for joy upon its arrival. Little did I know that my initial glee was not nearly enthused enough to really do this toy justice; the Minna Life Ola is a fantastic internal toy as well as a very enjoyable clitoral one and the orgasms that I’ve had with it are truly phenomenal.

The Minna Limon Ola

Now, that I’ve ranted and raved about how great SexToys.co.uk are let’s move on to the main event—namely the Minna Ola, in all its curved glory.

The Limon may have been shaped like a citrus fruit but the Ola is just as much of a zinger.
The Limon may have been shaped like a citrus fruit but the Ola has just as much zing.

The Minna Ola was (to my knowledge) Minna’s first toy on the market. In many ways the Ola was a game changer—introducing technology that bloggers have since raved about and other companies have shamelessly tried to rip off.

Essentially the Ola has a little pad on its handle. In order to control the vibrations of the Ola all you need to do is squeeze and the Ola responds. Alternatively you can use the big circular button on the Ola to go into a recording mode and record a pattern (or particular vibration intensity) which you can then lock in and enjoy at your own leisure.

I’ll get more into how awesome this technology is a little later but, for now, let’s look at the other benefit of the Ola.

The Minna Ola is USB rechargeable, completely waterproof, and made from 100% body safe materials. The exterior is made out of a silicone that I can only describe as powdery smooth and worthy of many-a caress. It has a matte feeling to it but doesn’t retain much drag once lubricant is applied, making it a dream to stroke against skin and to insert. Being waterproof makes the Ola easy to clean, while the magnetic USB cable allows the Ola’s cord to clip onto the Ola without the need for any charge holes on the toy. A 3 hour charge time will give you roughly 5 hours of play depending on the vibration intensity (which is pretty awesome).

The Ola’s shape is clearly made for some awesome G-spotting action but it also works really well for clitoral stimulation. At about 5 ¾ inches of useable length and a maximum circumference of 5 ½ inches the Ola provides a substantial size without being overly intimidating. The curved design means that you can enjoy either dispersed clitoral stimulation or a more localized sensation by using the tip. Meanwhile the curve and size are perfect when inserted, locating the G-spot with relative ease. The Minna Ola has a rather firm shaft which means that you can put pressure on your vaginal walls without worrying about it buckling under the pressure or shying away.

Meanwhile for those with a penis the Ola can feel great against the balls and can be used to effectively stimulate the head of the penis or the perineum. While the Ola does have a slightly angled and wider base/handle it’s not designed for anal in mind and so I wouldn’t recommend using it for that purpose.

The vibrations of the Minna Ola are what I would consider to be very enjoyable. They’re deep, rumbly (with a slight buzz), and have the ability to resonate through my body at the higher levels. While I wouldn’t call them the most powerful vibrations on the market they are in the higher range for power without transitioning to a wand vibe. Yet, despite this, the Ola’s vibrations can still start off very gentle—allowing them to cover a broad spectrum of preferences. The harder material of the Ola transfers the vibrations perfectly and allows them to be enjoyed both internally and externally.

The O-shaped button allows you to record and lock in different patterns.

My use of the Ola was mostly positive, bordering on divine at times. The touch-sensitive handle of the Ola truly is a delight to use, however I would say that it’s not as vital (or convenient) as it is to use as on the Limon. Thankfully this isn’t a big issue, though; as I just lock in a speed I’m happy with and then just enjoy the ride. Those who do want to utilize the handle more may find it a bit awkward when using the toy vaginally but, for the most part, it still works really well (though the dreaded hand cramp does occur from time-to-time). Pattern lovers will also invariably find the touch-technology to be a dream come true—as you can literally make your own patterns for a play session.

Clitorally the Ola can easily bring me to orgasm. It’s powerful enough and rumbly enough that my clit is eager and receptive during use. However internal use is where the Ola really excels.

With strong vibrations and a firm, curved shaft, the orgasms that came from the Ola during vaginal use were truly heavenly (yeah, yeah, sex is usually seen as a ‘naughty’ act, but feeling that good can never be a sin). At one point, upon the point of climax I swear I almost squirted as a new kind of pressure built up within me. In the end I did not reach the point of female ejaculation but trust me when I say that the Ola made me feel sensations that I had never felt before. Just wow.

The Ola's shaft makes it perfect as a G-spotting vibe.
The Ola’s shaft makes it perfect as a G-spotting vibe.

While I can’t guarantee that this will be the experience for everyone I can say that the Ola has the potential to be a great toy for a lot of people—all of the right elements are there—however, that doesn’t mean that the Ola is perfect.

Although squeeze-technology is a revolutionary, practical, and fun new way to control toys some people may find it annoying to have to squeeze their way to the right vibration intensity. If you’re the type of person who likes consistent vibration modes and doesn’t want to experiment then the Ola might test your patience a bit. And, of course, hand cramps can occur—it’s just the nature of the tech. It’s also a shame that you can’t save patterns but it’s usually pretty easy to recreate them anyway.

Another downside of the Ola is that it can be a bit awkward to clean the crease at the edges of the touch pad. Because the Ola is waterproof this isn’t a major issue but it’s still something to consider.

Also while the Ola isn’t overly loud it isn’t extraordinarily quiet either, therefore those who need a whisper silent toy might need to look elsewhere (I’d say the Limon was quieter).

Final Thoughts

Overall I am thrilled with the Ola and highly recommend it to anyone who likes firm, rumbly G-spotting action with clitoral functionality to boot. Of course this toy won’t be for everyone but personally I think that the Ola does a great job at making itself diverse, providing innovation, and being pretty exceptional at the type of stimulation that it delivers.

If you’re the type of person who really needs a set amount of vibration modes then the Ola might not be for you and, yes, I acknowledge that the Ola is rather pricey. However I personally think that the experiences of this toy far outweigh any downsides that it may have.

Ola-La, I’m smitten!
