Product Review: The Meo Stainless Steel BDSM Collar With Lock

As you may have guessed from my previous Meo collar review, I’ve been craving some chunky, obvious, ‘I own you’ collars recently. Subtlety is lovely, and a collar that passes as an elegant choker is a nice little clandestine addition to anyone’s collar collection, but sometimes it’s just really nice to let your kink (and submissive) flag fly with a bold declaration of your passive proclivities.

As part of my hunt for such bondage beasts, I found yet another collar from Meo that opened up new possibilities for me – one that said I could have my kink and eat it too (an analogy probably best left for oral lubricant, but sssh). That collar was the Meo Stainless Steel BDSM Collar With Lock.

The Meo Stainless Steel BDSM Collar With Lock

The Meo Stainless Steel BDSM Collar With Lock is, in many ways, a very typical chunky chain link collar, at least when seen on a person’s neck.

Looking at this collar, you’d certainly know you were looking at an owned individual (or, at the very tamest, a casual BDSM enthusiast). But, take a closer peek at the design of the Stainless Steel BDSM Collar With Lock and you’ll see that it’s the Yogi Bear of the BDSM circuit (or should that be Susie Bear?)

This collar is designed to double up as adjustable chains too, with a simple looping of the chain through the ring.

Such a design feature is not, by any means, completely unique – Indeed, the wonderful folks over at Kink Craft offer a very similar design with their paracord collars – But the metal links which make up this necklace, combined with a simple padlock, means that both the collar and cuff aspect of this product is completely adjustable.

Want a loose-hanging collar that’s much more like a chunky necklace? No problem at all. Want to lock it in tighter and reeeeally emphasise the ownership involved in the person wearing this collar. Very doable.

Yes to this.

I like this a lot when it comes to the collar aspect of this product because it sends the dominant part of my mind whirring with possibilities. I could put this on a sub, lose at first (not the first setting, but close) and then reward/punish them by tightening/loosening the collar incrementally throughout the day (or play scene) depending on their behaviour.

A sub might do their part to eagerly earn these adjustment or could passively do so in an internal vie to make their dominant proud enough to bring that collar a little closer to their neck. Just the thought it enough to make me want to get myself a permanent in-house sub of my own to experiment on.

From a submissive perspective I’ve yet to have someone else give me this collar, so it’s more of a gift to myself and with self-gifted collars comes a sense of confidence and introspection. As such, I can’t necessarily speak for any timid behaviours this collar might facilitate but I can tell you that I feel like a fucking boss when wearing it – as if I’m proudly sporting my sexual desires for others to see and actively pursuing some form of BDSM-based entanglement.

Playing with my genderqueer nature, it also helps me feel butch as fuck when in full necklace form. Although I’d never dream of wearing this collar for an all-out workout, there’s something that makes me feel like a badass butch when feeling this collar dangling on my neck during some basic strength moves. All it needs is a dogtag and I’m pretty sure I could take over the world while wearing this collar.

The collar is very easy to shift to ‘cuff-mode’ and the handcuffs can be tightened or loosened with incredible ease (at least when two people are involved. Using these cuffs solo you’ll always be able to escape them at the application measurements you set, but that’s kind of a good thing when playing alone anyway.

Again, the variation you can achieve in tightness allows these cuffs to play into the idea of obedient submission (when loose) and full-on restriction (when tightened). I felt like this collar offered simple practicality as a cuff system and, of course, the loop used to make this collar a cuff could also be attached to a chain or any other system that you so desire (within reason).

Spec-wise, this collar fits necks up to 50cm and has a circumference of 20 inches. The chain is 0.5 inches in width, making it chunky and substantial but not so heavy that you feel bogged down by it. I found this collar to be incredibly comfortable bar one detail.

This detail also happens to be the only downside I encountered with this collar and it’s that the lop-sided placement of the padlocking area does mean that, when worn locked, the lock tends to shift down, making the O-Ring section wonky. This makes the whole collar look off-centre and just royally annoys me because of this. Granted, this isn’t a practical hindrance, but it is an aesthetic eyesore which takes away from some of my enjoyment when wearing this collar. It just doesn’t sit quite right with my sense of balance, and I feel others can relate to this.

A personal downside would be that this collar is sadly too loose for my teeny tiny neck, even at maximum tightness, but that’s okay – I expected that. It does serve as a fair warning to anyone else with a slim neck, though, so something I feel the need to include.

The lock and key for this collar is included and the collar itself is made of stainless steel links, so it’s nice and sturdy in addition to being body-safe and mostly non-reactive against most people’s skin (some metals can cause problems, which I know from experience). And, at under €30 it’s really hard for those with a liking to it to feel disappointed with the end product. I’ve known crappy novelty collars retail for more.

Final Thoughts

Overall it’s really hard to fault such a practical, wonderfully chunky, diverse, and versatile collar/cuff product.
