Product Review: The Uberkinky Braided Cotton Bondage Rope

By now it’s probably glaringly obvious that I have zero rope reviews on my site.

Now, I love rope.

I own multiple pieces of rope.

I regularly stroke it against my skin, or tie myself a little amateur knot, close my eyes, and just enjoy the sensations.

But I can’t do intricate knot ties to save my life.

I was that one Brownie in my scout group who was there week upon week trying to get the bunny to go through the hole before I realized it was easier to tie its ears together and be done with it.

This is perhaps a precarious confession for someone with a sailing qualification to be making, be dammit my rope skills are just not up to scratch!

BUT my love of rope is still perfectly intact, as is my understanding of the fundamentals of Bondage Restraints and the methods involved.

And it’s for this reason that I decided to put all my cards on the table and then embark upon my very first rope review. I’m knot holding back anymore.

The Uberkinky Braided Cotton Bondage Rope

The Uberkinky Braided Cotton Bondage Rope is one of Uberkinky’s own brands of Bondage Rope and part of their 3 For 2 Mix & Match offer. This range includes a lot of different varieties of rope with various different colours available but I elected to review the Uberkinky Braided Cotton Bondage Rope in red.

My reasoning behind this? Well, as many of you may know, compared to something such as hemp rope, cotton bondage rope manages to provide a softer and more forgiving binding experience which still managing some firmly secured knots and ties that don’t come loose too easily. It’s essentially the best of both worlds—not too scratchy but still perfectly fit for purpose.

I’m also a big fan of the sensations that cotton rope provides, and the Uberkinky Braided Cotton Bondage Rope is no exception. Cotton allows the texture of its braids to come through with perfect clarity—unhindered by any additional itching or scratching sensation, you are essentially left with just the pressure of the bind and the decorative features of the braided rope as it rubs against your skin with every subtle motion.

This rope rings all the right bells for me.

The sensation is incredibly comforting to me and manages to constantly stay in the back of my mind without ever being distracting or causing me irritation. This rope’s hollow braid design aids in its softness while also making sure that it has a non-slip grip (which I can attest to at a basic level).

£11.99 gets you 10 inches (32 feet) of rope, which is an ample amount for some simple rope play but might not be enough for some of the more detailed full-bodied ties. This is especially the case if you are a plus-sized individual (though petite people will have more leeway). The diameter of this rope is 6mm, which makes it rather easy to tie in general and there’s very little fumbling involved when it comes to this rope.

When tugging on this rope you’ll get a nice bit of tension and firmness without, again, ever feeling like the rope is too abrasive or rigid against the skin.

One of the other benefits of rope (especially cotton) is that it adjusts quite nicely to body temperature and ends up feeling like a cozy rope-hug against the skin after just a little while, as opposed to some more unforgiving materials.

This rope feels great against the skin.

As of yet I’ve also not had any issues with this rope tangling or giving me any rope burn, and arranging it ready for any given knot it always a pretty straightforward and frustration-free situation.

Unlike some materials I haven’t found this rope to encourage excessive sweating either, which is a particular bugbear for Mr Peaches in particular (and a real mood killer for him).

Aesthetically this rope is absolutely stunning. Bright red and primed for some photography, I almost feel bad owning rope that is clearly meant for more skilled decorative flare than I can afford it. Still, it does motivate me to become better with my rope skills, so I suppose in that was it is an actively inspiring piece of bondage gear.

Do I have any downsides with this rope? Not at all.

Really what is there to dislike about a product that does exactly what you hoped it would do.

This rope isn’t an extraordinary specimen of artisan rope, but it is a trusty go-to with all the flexibility that many people in the BDSM circuit will value (alongside those just playfully dabbling and wanting something more than just a shade of grey).

The only thing I will echo is a piece of feedback sown on the product page with suggests it would have been nice to have some instructions for some basic ties along with the rope. This certainly would have made it more accessible for beginners and would instil a sense of kink-positive education that I think we can all appreciate (even if some buyers might not necessarily need the instructions).

However this isn’t necessarily a fault with the rope as much as it is a missed opportunity to go the extra mile (or is it meter in this case?).

Final Thoughts

Overall I am incredibly happy with this rope and I’m proud to present it as my very first official rope review.

As a go-to this rope never fails to give me the sensations I’m grasping for, and the way that it shifts against my skin is something I cherish.

The colour is gorgeous, its knots are sturdy, and I can see great potential for some amazing rope work. Now, if only I was capable of it…
