Update: #KnickEroticonGlory and My Eroticon 2017 Virtual Meet & Greet

Holy cow guys, I’ll be headed off to Eroticon this weekend. And not just as an attendee. I’m actually part of a panel on the Sunday—discussing the use of blogs to educate people about sex and health alongside Formidable Femme and Hot Octopuss. *Does a happy dance*

My Eroticon attendance comes courtesy of the amazing Ruby l’Ace over at Knicker Rocker Glory and I cannot express my gratitude enough. Because of this highly generous sponsorship I shall officially be tagging my Eroticon tweets as #KnickEroticonGlory so you can easily follow my Eroticon exploits and I can give credit to the amazing lady who got me there.

Anyway, thanks to the Formidable Femme it recently came to my attention that it’s somewhat of an Eroticon tradition to do a little virtual meet and greet before the start of the event.

So, without further ado, here’s my contribution to this tradition:

NAME (and Twitter if you have one)

Emmeline Peaches. Get rid of the space on Twitter and you’ve nailed it (@EmmelinePeaches)

What are you hoping to get out of Eroticon 2017?

I want to meet each and every person in the industry that I care about, share in some laughter, cause some smiles, and be part of a huge educational collaborative that leaves everyone with the feel-good vibes.

So no pressure really.

In all seriousness though, having been to (and organized) conferences in the past I find that they’re almost always a highly positive experience, and a great way to network, exchange ideas, and generally approach familiar discourses in new and dynamic ways. I’m sure Eroticon will provide a very similar experience.

This years schedule at Eroticon is pretty full on but which 4 sessions do you already have marked down as ones you want to attend?

Is it lame that I’ve already planned out my entire agenda? I feel like that’s a bit lame now.

But if I had to narrow it down to four essential sessions then it would have to be the following:

A History of Erotic Writing and Obscenity in Britain by Kate Lister: My PhD looks at the Victorian period and I have a persistent interest in sex and Britain’s relationship with sex (as you may be able to guess) so of course I am super psyched for this session.

A KinkCraft Workshop: I have reviewed multiple Kink Craft items, wrote for the Kink Craft blog, and even been on the Kink Craft podcast series, so of course I am super excited to meet the Kink Craft crew and showing off my dreadful crafting skills in person. Is that a bit masochistic? It’s a good thing I plan on crafting a flogger then, isn’t it?

Steel and Stilettos Fitness Masterclass by JetSet Jasmine: I’m a bit of a fitness nut at times so this session really caught my eye. I’m also dreadful at balancing and can’t walk in high heels to save my life, so if I don’t make it to my panel the next day then you know why.

Conflict Resolution in the “Call Out” Era – War Stories from the Internet Trenches by Ruby Goodnight: I have been part of a few of the so-called ‘wars’ that this session mentions, so I am incredibly curious to see how such incidents are portrayed retrospectively and what we can all learn from them.

Tell us one thing about yourself that not many people know?

This is what Mr Peaches dubs ‘my sad story’ and not ‘sad’ in terms of sorrowful, more in terms of meager pity.

When I was younger (think primary school) I really wanted a pet Giant African Land Snail but my mother refused to let me have one. Then one day I found a garden snail with a slightly broken shell and decided to rescue it and nurse it back to health.

In case you hadn’t guessed, I’m weird.

I smuggled it back home in a tiny yellow backpack (I think it was meant for a teddy bear or something, but it served its purpose). I got it a cuttlefish for calcium and used to sneak up food for it.

I took my little snail everywhere with me, hidden away in its yellow backpack. When adults weren’t around I would take my snail out and let it slime its way merrily around. Like many kids I would talk to my pet snail and it became my best friend.

Then one day, unbeknownst to me, my mum had seen me return my snail to its yellow backpack before coming indoors and assumed I was trying to smuggle a random snail indoors. She yelled at me quite firmly and insisted that I put the snail back outside.

Had she known that I had kept the snail for months prior and bonded with it I’m not sure what she would have done, but I was too scared to tell her and so instead I had to set my best little snail buddy free in to the wild once more.

I sobbed my little heart out that day.

Soooo….yeaaaah…now you know a bit more about me. Congrats?

If you made the papers, what would the headline be?

Apparently I did make the papers at one point (something I found out randomly).

The headline they went with was ‘Sex toy tester who has tried HUNDREDS of dildos helps buyers get “peak performance” from raunchy products

Not too shabby.

If you could have one skill for free (I.e. without practice/time/effort) what would it be?

I’d love to be able to play the piano. I don’t think that needs any further explanation.

Complete the sentence: I love it when…

I can help people feel more enthusiastic about life and all that it has to offer.

There are so many exciting and interesting things in this world. Let’s explore them together!

    💕 can’t wait to meet you! 💕

Oh my goodness the snail story actually bought a tear to my eye. Does your Mum know now about the snail?

And yay for high heels and working out…. we can wobble around together!

    • I believe I told her earlier last year but the full implications never sunk in. I will always miss my snail buddy. He helped me through some very rough times.
