Gel-like lubricants. Some people hate them, some swear by them but, in any case, they’re always great for one task in particular—anal use.
So is it any surprise that the Intimate Earth Soothe Anal Anti-Bacterial Glide Lubricant has a wonderfully thick and unmistakably gel-like consistency?
If I’m being honest it’s been a while since I’ve used a gel-based lubricant, at least one that I truly got along with. Others have been fit for purpose but stung, or have provided thickness in use but lacked that true goopiness of a really well-formulated gel-like lubricant. This isn’t the case with the Soothe Anal Anti-Bacterial Lubricant.
Put simply this lubricant nails it and Mr Peaches’ booty is very happy as a result of this.
The Intimate Earth Soothe Anal Anti-Bacterial Glide Lubricant
The Intimate Earth Soothe Anal Anti-Bacterial Glide Lubricant is made by Intimate Earth and, as you may know by now, I’m kind of ridiculously impressed with the ongoing efforts of this long-standing company. Had I known about them sooner I might have had a higher standard for lubricants in general, but now they stand as one of many brilliant brands that I get to merrily recommend to you. Ah, it feels good to have choices.
And, as choices go, this offers a brilliant go-to option for anyone seeking an environmentally responsible, high-quality gel-like lubricant. The Soothe Anal Anti-Bacterial Lubricant employs, where possible, organic ingredients and has a strong focus on natural methods of lubrication, protection, and hydration. This includes using guava bark extract to provide the anti-bacterial aspects that it boasts on its labeling.
Tests have been done to determine the anti-bacterial and anti-microbial elements of guava bark, but the research isn’t as robust as it could be. Because of this I’m inclined to take Intimate Earth’s claims (or, at least, intentions) in good faith but I wouldn’t recommend using this lubricant as a toy cleaner, safe sex tool, or anything of the sort. Just take it as an added bonus of the lube rather than its main selling point.
Instead the main benefits of this lubricant are that it’s paraben-free, DEA-free, condom and toy safe, and completely vegan (whooo!). The ingredients of this lubricant are as follows:
Purified Water (Aqua), Glycerin (Plant Derived), Propanediol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid, Psidium Guajava Fruit Extract, Certified Organic Lycium Barbarum (Goji Berry) Fruit Extract, Certified Organic Cymbopogon Schoenanthus (Lemongrass) Leaf/Stem Extract, Certified Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Extract.
None of these raise a red flag at all, but even plant derived glycerine might be a bit of an irritant for those who are highly prone to UTIs so know your body and respect it when it comes to lubricant. I have very sensitive skin and I found no negative affects at all with the Soothe Anal Anti-Bacterial Lubricant, which is a good sign as far as I’m concerned.
Scent-wise this lubricant is fragrance-free and comes with a very light natural aqua aroma that isn’t at all unpleasant. This lubricant isn’t made with oral use in mind but it is, nonetheless, not bad on the taste buds and has a slight sweet and medicinal aspect to it. It somewhat reminds me of Ricola herbal sweets but without the same intensity. Because of this you can use this lubricant orally and it certainly won’t disrupt the action.
This may strike some people as odd, considering that this lube is listed as ‘for anal’, but just because a lube has a specialty doesn’t mean that it can’t be versatile too. On the contrary, this lube is also spectacular for use with powerful sex toys to provide the buffer needed if they feel just a bit too abrasive unlubricated. This lube is also lovely when used sparingly with any form of glass or metal toy to provide that extra slide required without running uncontrollably everywhere like thinner lubes might. This control might not seem like much but it can be invaluable when dealing with particularly weighty sex toys.
The consistency of this lubricant is beautifully thick and nicely goopy. Because of this it doesn’t spread as consistently or willingly as some thinner lubricants at first but once you start to work it in it takes on a very smooth and refreshing quality.
Thankfully this lubricant lasts a very long time (again, great for anal), doesn’t dry in a sticky or clingy manner, and a little seems to go quite a long way.
Mr Peaches is an avid appreciator of this lubricant, which bodes well as he was the main anal-tester for this particular product. To quote him directly:
This is a thick lube it coats the toys its spread on every well and lasts for quite a while. This makes insertion a doodle which of course make the experience far more fun and pleasurable.
Personally I find that this lube is great for using on larger silicone toys it’s thick nature and staying power really aid the task with working up to and in those toys that give me a bit more of a stretch.
Honestly I think it’s great.
High praise from the Mr, but are there any downsides?
Well, although I personally didn’t find that this lube sticky at all, Mr Peaches discovered that for anal use it could get a bit sticky depending on the amount used. Because of this he recommends a shower after use. I think a good clean up with a damp cloth would also suffice, but different folks, different strokes.
Financially this lubricant might seem a bit harder to justify compared to some other gel-like lubricants on the market but you’re paying for quality and this lubricant seems to go a very long way and it performs its job to a near-flawless degree. Because of this I highly recommend investing in it, especially if you’re playing with larger toys or want that extra buffer and assurance during any form of sex play.
A good buffer of lube should never be underestimated.
It’s been a long time since I could actively recommend a gel-like lubricant, but I did just that in a recent email I received and my verdict was clear—The Intimate Earth Soothe Anal Anti-Bacterial Glide Lubricant.
Not only is this lubricant deliciously thick but it also uses ingredients that should work with most bodies, and the ideal consistency for a variety of different uses. Of all these uses anal definitely comes up top but that’s no reason to relegate this lube strictly to the bottom.
