Product Review: Wicked Aqua Peppermint Cocoa

When I’m good I’m very, very good. But when I’m bad I’m wicked. In fact, you could say that I suck (at least if I have any say in the matter).

Thankfully the wickedly wonderful Wicked know this and treated me over the holidays to a bottle of Wicked Aqua Peppermint Cocoa. This was Wicked’s limited edition festive flavor, but it can still be found in certain stores. Besides, Peppermint Hot Chocolate is a flavor that I’d be happy to relish any time of the year.

Reviewing this lubricant also gives me another chance to highlight Wicked’s products in general, which still continue to be some of my favorite flavored lubricants to date. Did the Peppermint Cocoa flavor keep up to the high standards that I will now always hold Wicked to? Read on to find out.

Wicked Aqua Peppermint Cocoa

The Wicked Aqua Peppermint Cocoa lubricant is one of a line of flavored water-based lubricants provided by Wicked, of which my absolute favorite is the Mocha Java (though I also adore the Salted Caramel and would love to try the Cinnamon Bun). Water-based lubricants are best suited for oral sex due to their fluid an less oil-like sensations when sampled orally. They’re also compatible with most sex toys, making water-based lubricant a versatile product for general play.

Darker nights mean you’ll should cozy up with a good lube.

And, as water-based lubricants go, Wicked certainly know what they’re doing. Wicked’s water-based range is paraben-free, uses plant-based glycerin, and includes olive leaf extract to nourish and hydrate the skin (always a plus when sex is involved).

This lubricant comes in a very efficient squirt-capped bottle, that distributes a nice amount of lube with every squirt and allows for a reasonable adjustment in just how much lubricant you use.

In the case of Wicked lubricant this is particularly effective because their range of water-based lube is actually very thin–squirt out the bottle and run eagerly over the skin thin. Some may think that this would make Wicked’s lubricant feel too watery, and I remember being skeptical at first. However, this lubricant has a brilliant sense of substance which feels utterly luxurious upon application.

It’s also as if when you stroke this lubricant on to the skin in actively joins in, embodying the slathering and pampering qualities that we all hope a lubricant provides. This sensation translates very well, even during a blowjob, and for quite a thin lubricant the Wicked Aqua Peppermint Cocoa still persists and offers ample slide during a prolonged blowjob.

Stroked between the lips it is just as inviting as when it’s applied on the genitals, basically beckoning both the oral initiator and the recipient to relish each and every sensation, augmenting it with its silken consistency.

Of course when it comes to oral lube consistency isn’t the only concern and scent and flavor are huge factors too.

Wicked Aqua Peppermint Cocoa has a scent to it, but it’s not at all overpowering. It’s the kind of scent that can only be detected during use; a gentle flourish of aroma shared between those involved and no one else. This is great for anyone who dislikes overpowering aromas, or those who simply want to keep things discreet.

The cap used for this lubricant is very effective.

In terms of Peppermint Cocoa in particular, this fragrance is sugary sweet with just a dash of mint. It’s familiar to anyone who has opened a box of favorite Christmas candies (not chocolate, candy), or opened up a particularly sugary candy cane.

This scent will be as divisive as the flavour of the Peppermint Cocoa lubricant, which follows up on the promise that its aroma provides. This is an incredibly sugary lubricant, where the cocoa takes a bit of a back bench to the mostly sugared down minty element of this lube. It’s not an unpleasant or overpowering flavor. In actuality it’s one that I readily lap up with all the gusto of a bargain buster in the New Year sales, but it’s certainly not going to appeal to everyone. I think that’s perhaps the biggest pro and con of any Wicked flavored lubricant.

These lubricants are absolutely, undeniably delicious. They’re juicy, rich, full of flavor without feeling too insistent and there’s very little in the way of an aftertaste. When Wicked commits to a flavor they fully commit, and that means you’ll either love the flavors they provide or hate them (with the ultimate determinate being whether or not they’re to your taste).

This can make purchasing any Wicked flavored lubricant a bit of a risk, but it’s also perhaps the biggest reassurance that what you’re promised with Wicked is exactly what you’ll get.

From my personal experience most Wicked flavors also tend to be sweet, like the syrups served up at a fancy coffee shop, so if you don’t have a sweet tooth then these lubricants may not be for you.

In terms of clean-up I have found that this lubricant is non-sticky, as promised, and does always seem to dry up well, with little-to-no irritation. This makes it a very good option for those who want to explore quick and easy oral sex sessions and is further amplified by the screw-lock system on the bottle for this lubricant.

As an aside (and as some of you may already know) January is Veganuary, an occasion that extends well-beyond the food we eat. So if you are taking part (or are a practicing vegan or concerned with animal welfare) then you’ll also be overjoyed to hear that Wicked’s line of flavored lubricant (including this one) is animal friendly and vegan. Oh yes, us vegans get the good lube.

Returning back to downsides briefly, the only others are really personal preference. If you want a thick or non-sugary lubricant then this certainly isn’t the right lube for you. If you prefer the flavor of your oral lube to be very, very subtle then the richness of this particular lube may also be a bit too much for you but, personally, I feel like Wicked strike the balance of flavor very well.

Final Thoughts

Overall I am, as always, a big fan of Wicked’s flavored lubricants and highly recommend that you buy a bottle yourself.

Is the Peppermint Cocoa the right flavor for you? I couldn’t say. Personally I really like. Granted, it’s not going to be replacing my Salted Caramel or Mocha Java any time soon but I do feel like it’s well worth the money and a nice little excursion from my two reliable favorites.

If you haven’t tried a single Wicked product yet then I urge you to reconsider. This company makes consistently exceptional products and I definitely have a taste for them.
