Product Review: The Liberator Fascinator Throe

Whilst sipping on chocolate tea the other day from a fine china glass I got a sudden urge to depart from the public residence and head to my local supermarket.

There I would retrieve the bottle of Lucozade that a rather ill and sombre Mr Peaches had requested, in addition to a smaller ‘on the go bottle’ for my own purposes. Getting home I then imagine that I would lay myself down, unscrew the cap of the smaller Lucozade bottle and allow the cold and fizzy concoction to pour down upon my torso from above, demanding that Mr Peaches come and claim the drink he had so politely requested.

Alas, reality is very rarely as exciting as fantasy and, in actuality, I dashed home late, forgot both bottles of Lucozade and ended up nursing a heavily coughing and in no way aroused Mr Peaches.

Tis the season.

But the fantasy remains—tantalizing me with a little ‘what if’ and a wish for an illness just strong enough to require Lucozade but just mild enough so as not to hinder a session of furiously sticky, fizzy-drink fucking.

The reason this fantasy even crossed my mind as a possibility? The Liberator Fascinator Throe.

The Liberator Fascinator Throe

The Liberator Fascinator Throe is the waterproof sheet for sexual activities. It’s iconic in every sense of the word. A giant among fabrics and one of the few objects that almost every sex toy reviewer I know lusts about with incomparable devotion.

This is the epitome of sex sheets.

Its premise is simple—it’s a waterproof throw—but, as with all Liberator products the Liberator Fascinator Throe is so much more than any simple description can ever convey. This is the Rolls Royce of sex throws, the crème de la crème, and it’s all thanks to Liberator’s ingenious design and extensive experience with sex furniture.

In terms of dimensions the Liberator Fascinator Throe comes in at 72 inches by 54 inches, giving users a lot of room to play around with. Granted, it doesn’t entirely cover our bed but it covers just enough to leave us feeling very confident with the space provided. This is another sheet that eliminates and fear from squirting, cum lube, or any other form of play liquid or bodily fluid that should find its way to the throw’s surface.

Capable of soaking up a large amount of liquid, the Liberator Fascinator Throe has two different sides—one made from a soft microfiber and the other made from a silky satin. For anyone who is concerned with this, satin is vegan, so this throw is also pretty guilt-free (even more so considering the efforts Liberator makes as a company to stay environmentally aware).

In between these two layers there is also an inner moisture barrier, making sure that absolutely no fluids are going to stray in to places that they’re not desired.

This throw has two distinct kinds.

Having tested this throw extensively I can vouch for its waterproof barrier first hand—and was surprised to find that the microfiber section actually seems a little more effective to my mind than the satin side (though it is a very mild difference and could well be my mind playing tricks on me). Never once have I used this throw and felt like it was going to let me down. The Liberator Fascinator Throe is complete assurance in a beautifully smooth form. And, to make things even better, it can be machine washed.

The sheet also looks and feels absolutely gorgeous and gives off an aesthetic of high quality lovemaking. Yes, ‘high quality lovemaking’ is now a term I use, thanks to the Liberator Fascinator Throe.

The two different materials used for the Liberator Fascinator Throe also adds a brilliantly tactile experience to using this throw which I have yet to see wholly replicated in any other waterproof sheets to the same extent. The microfiber section is velvety smooth, like sitting on a luxury sofa or feeling the red lining of the barriers they use to block off a red carpet event.

This side gives a good amount of grip for more rigorous lovemaking sessions and works particularly well when doubled up with a piece of Liberator furniture. I used it with the Ramp on more than one occasion when I wanted to have sex on the floor and it provided ample padding for my feet and knees while also keeping things nice and clean and making sure that the Ramp didn’t go anywhere.

The satin side is perhaps less enjoyable to me, but still gives a silky smooth stroke to it which seems to become a symbiotic aspect of any sexual action that it is used for. I personally find that this side is lacking in grip, which is a bit of a shame, but for that slick and uninhibited caress this satin offering performs very well indeed.

As mentioned before, the Liberator Fascinator Throe is wonderfully thick, to the point where it can be placed on the ground and used to facilitate comfortable sex sessions while on the ground. It would also be equally adept at doing so during a camping trip, while also providing a cover after the ‘fun part’ is over (to my mind lying on your partner’s chest is equally blissful, but I digress).

The Fascinator Throe comes in different colours too.

But, for us, the Liberator Fascinator Throe didn’t quite live up to expectations.

This is mainly due to the inner moisture barrier, which adds additional weight and a semi-rigid form to the throw which means that’s it’s not quite and comfortable and flowing as we had both hoped it would be. I’m going to blame the Sheets of San Francisco Throw here a bit—it’s spoiled us with its light-weight waterproof form. Sure, if my not be as plush, but I think for us we’re willing to have a bit of give in terms of softness if it means sacrificing any excess bulk and the slightly crinkly feel and sounds of the Liberator Fascinator Throe.

That’s not to say the Liberator Fascinator Throe is bad. In all objective terms it is utterly exceptional and acts as some of Liberator’s finest work. It’s just not quite right for us, and that’s okay.

I can imagine that people with mobility issues or those who get easily fatigued by weighted fabrics may also find the Liberator Fascinator Throe to be just a tad too cumbersome for their liking, but it’s up to each individual whether or not the weight of this throw is simply too much or a reasonable expectation for the waterproof protection that it provides. For the vast majority the Liberator Fascinator Throe will be in the latter category.

Final Thoughts

Overall Mr Peaches and I were incredibly impressed by the Liberator Fascinator Throe and I can certainly see why it has such universal appeal.

The Liberator Fascinator Throe is nothing short of outstanding and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a soft and silky fabric throw to help them enjoy guilt-free, messy sex. However if you’re looking for something a little less luscious and a little more lightweight then the Liberator Fascinator Throe may just be slightly off for your needs.

Ultimately this throw has definitely justified its iconic status and I’m very happy to have tried it, but I don’t think it’s a purchase that I would be able to personally justify given how lukewarm I feel about it.
