This post is part of my Ceramic Samplings series, which looks at products from Ceramic Pleasure. To see more please check out the link here. I highly recommend Ceramic Pleasure and their products, which are affordable, unique, and made with passion and unwavering dedication. Creativity at its finest.
The warmth of a flame. A craving for warmer tones of rich red as the coldness creeps in ever closer. The juddering motion that a rapid flutter of fire makes while dancing on the wick. These things come to mind when I hold the Flicker in my hand.
Compared to some of Ceramic Pleasure’s other toys the Flicker may look too bland or straightforward (an ironic use of words for such a snaking toy, but you get the point). But since when did an effective sex toy need to be an intricate looking sex toy? What’s wrong with a good old fashioned ceramic rod from time-to-time? A rustic reclaimation of the roots of sexual desire.
There’s something oddly homely about the Flicker. It invokes images of sex by the hearthside, all other light obscured by the darker days of winter. It’s cozy—familiar.
A simple curved dildo will almost always appeal to my body, and most bodies with a G-Spot for the matter. It’s not a universal design for pleasure but it comes close enough to secure a certain amount of assurance. The arching shaft of the Flicker presses up against my G-Spot and brings with it wisps of delight as I judder, wiggle, and swivel it across my G-Spot, mimicking the motions of the warm winter fire that it reminds me so clearly of.
I suppose an object forged in fore is always going to have a remnant of heat left behind.
But the Flicker can also be cooled and retains its temperature well in this manner too. As the Flicker’s shaft is quite slim and its tip slightly narrower I can certainly see how it could be applied to soothe the vaginal walls as well as stimulate it—reminding me of After Dark’s post.
The weaving slither of the Flicker’s shaft is also great for twisting this toy and seeing how different angle provoke different sensations. Ceramic Pleasure voiced some apprehension that this particular dildo was too long but, for a slimmer toy, I see no issue with its length. When it comes to such a swiveling technique length works in this dildo’s favor too—as it allows lots of room to manoeuvre the shaft and twist it with ease. It also makes partnered use a lot easier, as they have a lot of handle room to work with.
Ultimately also long as a toy isn’t sporting specific texture on its lower shaft then I’d always rather a toy was too long than too short. At least that way you have something to work with, something to utilize, and (if desired) something to build up to.
The cost red of the Flicker’s glaze is part of what makes it feel so homely to me. It’s feels like a traditional ceramic piece. Something you might find in the kitchen. The color of a favored pie dish or tagine. Home isn’t just where the heart is, after all, it’s where a lot of fucking occurs too, and there’s something wonderfully alluring about a cozy dildo. It makes me want to make baked goods and then masturbate on the counter while I wait for them to cook to perfection. I think I need to invest in some cinnamon and apples.
As a slender toy the flicker embodies this comfort in so many ways, too. It’s easy to insert, easy to provide precise information, easy to ease off if needed, and generally gentle when inserted (unless you choose to add more pressure). When using the Flicker you’re in complete control of your experience. The only thing you could ever really crave is more texture or more girth, but both would fundamentally transform this dildo in to a whole different creation altogether.
Orgasms with the Flicker are easy, controlled, and enjoyable. They’re exactly what I expect and exactly what I want. Not ‘I just may squirt’ strong but never weak either. Never disappointing or fleeting. A flicker may be momentary, but the Flicker lingers for just the right amount of time, and can be wiggled around to prolong an orgasm further if wished.
As it is long, the Flicker does have some weight to it, but not an excessive amount—certainly not enough to make it difficult to use for most people. If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say it were pretty much the optimal weight range for people who want some sense of presence from their dildo without feeling like their orifice is being widened or hulked down by the weight of what is inserted. Once again—a comfortable spot to be in.
Is the Flicker my favorite Ceramic Pleasure? No. Is it one I would purchase should it ever go missing? Yes and I’d buy it in the exact same glaze. Why? Because I love the rich and inviting appeal of the Flicker as it stands so far. Everything about this dildo comes together to be perfect complimentary and you couldn’t ask for a better unison of personal musings and practical sensation. At least that’s my impression of this ceramic sampling.
