This post is part of my Ceramic Samplings series, which looks at products from Ceramic Pleasure. To see more please check out the link here. I highly recommend Ceramic Pleasure and their products, which are affordable, unique, and made with passion and unwavering dedication. Creativity at its finest.
I went back and forth on the naming of this toy for a while. The Gear, The Cog, The Screw, even The Mechanist. Ultimately I picked The Screwdriver for a few reasons, and I feel they speak more generally about this particular sampling.
The first and most obvious reason is that this dildo reminds me of the handle of a screwdriver. Straight-shafted and decorated with clear divots and raised lines, the Screwdriver wouldn’t look out of place as part of a toolkit. It would also look absolutely wonderful as part of a steam punk collection or a display of vintage erotica.
In fact that could be said about a lot of Ceramic Pleasure Toys. These beautiful dildos aren’t just practical, they’re works of art and artifice too, and I feel like they could grace the glass displays in a museum of sex without a moment of hesitation.
This almost vintage vibe that ceramic provides makes me cherish each Ceramic Pleasure Toy even more, as it feels like they honor the heritage and history of sex toys while also embodying a modern and personal approach. It’s enough to fill my heart with a great amount of joy and excitement whenever I get one out to sample.
But I digress.
The other reason that I called this dildo The Screwdriver is because, much like a screwdriver, one size does not fit everyone. If you try to use the wrong screwdriver for the job you find out pretty quickly that things just aren’t meshing right and you’ve just got the wrong fit.
Sometimes this toy is an improper fit for me and it feels like it’s pinching against the walls of my vagina. This is a combination of the firmness of ceramic and the preference of curvature that my vaginal canal persistently asserts every time I try a straighter toy.
There will be others that experience this anatomical clash too, and those who dislike The Screwdriver because of preference. If you know your body dislikes straight toys or linear texture then you’re pretty much guaranteed to clash with the Screwdriver.
On the other hand if you’re a fan of subtle, seamless texture, straight toys, and rapid thrusts then, my gosh, is this a great toy.
The Screwdriver is the perfect size and girth to be readily accessible for most and provide a very firm thrusting experience. Because it’s made of ceramic it lubes up very well and slickly and seamlessly thrusts in and out of the body. It has enough length to get a good grip (or for your partner to hold it) and is generally accommodating to wiggle motions too.
Spinning The Screwdriver is ‘interesting’ and I will leave it at that. I urge you to try it for yourself if purchasing this toy. Results will vary.
Off the top of my head I think this toy could really appeal to those who love the conventional ‘bullet’ shape (which is very popular on the market) but who also wants to experiment with firmer material, more weighted toys, temperature play, or a little bit of texture. The Screwdriver provides a perfect intersection for these preferences, making it an exciting dildo for anyone who wants to explore these areas of play. In this way The Screwdriver is a deceptively diverse toy despite having a rather straightforward design.
One of the other uses for this toy I considered which excites me (and which I can’t believe I hadn’t considered before this point) is that it would make a great experimental dildo for Vaginismus sufferers who have been using dilators but are ready to get a more textured or conventional sex toy.
In fact the potential for Ceramic Pleasure to move into elegant and highly personalized dilators in general is immense and an incredibly exciting prospect. Imagine how wonderful it would be to gift your partner with a dilator kit made just for them. Or how empowering and incredibly healing it could be to select a beautiful, handmade, custom dilator kit to help you on the road to recovery. Doing so just brings so much personal agency and intimacy to dilating and I’m excited at the prospect.
If Ceramic Pleasure were to make such kits you know I would be the first to be screaming about it to all of y’all. In fact I think I’d cry tears of sheer joy.
For now Ceramic Pleasure’s straight-shafted toys give a glimpse of what such dilators could provide, and I honestly did enjoy my time with The Screwdriver when my body wanted to play ball. On such occasions orgasms would be strong and slightly confused but in a good way. It was like my vagina had just solved a particularly difficult puzzle and the orgasm was its eureka and celebration moment combined. Gratifying to say the least.
Screwdrivers are a relatively simple tool but we use them for so much that they are often essential in our lives and solve a lot of problems. Equally The Screwdriver seemed quite simple to me at first, but has so much potential and caused to many musings that I can’t help but feel grateful that Ceramic Pleasure included it for me to sample.
Never underestimate the power of a simple design, especially when it’s been screwed with in the best way possible.
