Toy Review: A Ceramic Pleasure Creation (Dildo 020)

It’s always a delight to see new creators emerge in the adult industry—those ambitious artisans who strive to turn their creative skills towards sexual enjoyment. When a crafter really cares about what they’re making and has a true sense of enthusiasm about their user’s sexual well-being I honestly believe that it shows in the final product.

Truly great creators aren’t afraid to experiment in order to refine their art and the resulting products can be an insightful (as well as effective) ride. This is why I adore testing such objects; they have character at their very core…Even more so when emblazoned with a smiley face.

016

Such is the lovable logo that adorns every object from Ceramic Pleasure, a newly launched company which specialized in handmade ceramic dildos. This adorable mark of happiness and quirk is indicative of Ceramic Pleasure’s toys themselves—which have an unusual and experimental feel to them.

Unable to resist the allure of such unique objects I couldn’t help but purchase my own Ceramic Pleasure Creation for review. It’s fair to say I have no regrets.

About Ceramic Pleasure

Ceramic Pleasure is the brain child of John, who has a long-standing background in community-based craft projects. Upon being made redundant in mid-2015 John off-handedly joked about making a friend a dildo. To his surprise the suggestion was very well-received and soon he found himself with one very happy friend and a new career option.

Ever since then John has been hard at work experimenting with different styles and glazes—trying new designs with creative vigor—the result of which can be seen on his recently launched Etsy page.

As John is still very much in the creative stages of his dildo-making endeavors each Ceramic Pleasure toy is a unique labour of love, with no two dildos being the same. Ceramic Pleasures has a ready-made selection available but is also open to requests and is willing to work with new customers to create the dildo of their dreams.

My Ceramic Pleasure Dildo (pragmatically titled 020) arrived swiftly and was presented in a storage tube with a custom certificate which had the exact specifications for the length, diameter, glaze, and clay body of the dildo with John’s signature finishing it off. Everything wall well packaged and I could tell that a lot of care had gone in to how my product was made and managed.

From my communication with John and the prompt delivery of my parcel I would highly recommend Ceramic Pleasure as a seller, and feel that John goes above and beyond to provide a fantastic service…But what about the products themselves?…

A Ceramic Pleasure Creation (Dildo 020)

I’ll put you (and John) out of your misery right off the bat by revealing that I really liked this dildo. ‘Liked’ isn’t ‘adored’ but the 020 provides enough of an experience to always keep me interested, even if I’m not always in the mood for it.

Photos don't do this dildo justice.

This is a dildo that is faultless in execution. Made from stone-ware clay this product has been high-fired in a kiln with a protective glaze that makes it hypoallergenic, non-porous, safe with all known lubricants and incredibly easy to clean. While silicone lubricants are perfectly fine to use with this dildo, Ceramic Pleasure does advise that you take care if using other silicone toys while using this toy with a silicone lube, as the two can react poorly together (depending on the quality of the silicone toy itself). This warning is a very nice touch from Ceramic Pleasure, who did not need to add this information but chose to take the chance to raise user awareness anyway. Kudos Ceramic Pleasure.

There are many reasons to love stone-ware clay as a sex toy material but the most immediate is definitely the aesthetic excellence that it delivers.

Each Ceramic Pleasure toy has its own unique appearance and will speak to its prospective owner individually, which is part of the experience of selecting an artisan dildo. I personally chose 020 because it reminded me of a character that I created as part of a roleplaying game. Straight-shafted and with a beautiful bulging spiral, the swirling green design of the 020 seemed to me like the perfect fit for my character and was thus immediately appealing to me.

That being said I did find myself lusting after multiple creations from Ceramic Pleasure and choosing between the three that I cut it down to was a real trial. For those, like me, who find themselves spoiled for choice it’s fortunate to know that each Ceramic Pleasure is amazingly well-priced, with no dildo on the Etsy site coming it at above £32 (without P&P). This means that you could easily buy a few of John’s amazing creations without breaking the bank.

Despite these dildos being highly affordable the quality of my 020 dildo is absolutely outstanding and its striking beauty leaves me in awe. A beautiful green base is accentuated by flecks of azure and copper hues which shine brilliantly in the sunlight. Every time I look at this dildo I notice something new and the glaze itself perfectly accentuates the smooth swirls of 020’s spiraling shaft.

The glaze on this dildo is part of what makes it so exceptional.

In terms of practicality a ceramic dildo has a heft to it that lies somewhere in the middle between metal and glass. It’s not excessively hefty but neither is it lightweight, providing the right amount of weight to be noticeable without feeling like it’s dragging my vaginal down (something I have felt with larger metal dildos in the past). The glaze of these ceramic dildos also makes them wonderfully smooth—requiring minimal lubrication and allowing them to easily slide in and out of the body.

Unlike metal and glass, which start off very cold, my ceramic dildo always started off cool by default but never chilly. The temperature difference was still enough to invigorate my vaginal walls upon insertion, amplifying the natural features of the dildo. Given time ceramic dildos warm to match the temperature of the body, creating a very pleasurable experience. For those in to temperature play ceramic dildos can also be cooled or warmed to add a different sensation to your play session. My preference if warming my ceramic dildo and I’ve personally found my 020 retained heat very well during use. There really is nothing like a chunky ceramic dildo providing a warm glow inside of me as it screws in to place.

And when I say ‘screws’ I really do mean it.

Due to the spiraling design of this particular dildo 020 is the type of toy that is best swirled into the body rather than thrusted like a conventional dildo. This creates a gentle tugging and rising sensation which is distinct to screw-like toys and stimulates the G-Spot in a very non-conventional manner. Having a tapered tip definitely helps insert this toy, but the swirling may be too much for some and will be ill-suited for those who like to rapidly thrust their toys. This dildo is much more suited for twists, clenches, and wiggles.

This toy has more twists than a Shamalayan movie (and they're much better received too).
This toy has more twists than a Shamalayan movie (and they’re much better received too).

One of the most interesting aspects of spiraling toys is their natural inclination to move in tandem with its screw-like design, and 020 is no exception. This meant that as I was using this toy I could almost feel it trying to fight its way out of my body, as my clenching muscles were forcing it out with their natural motions. This caused me to apply pressure to keep the dildo in place and created this amazing momentum of push and pull, like a tug-o-war of stimulation grappling inside of me as my vaginal muscles tried to process whether or not it found the experience pleasurable or painful.

Most of the time it was pleasurable but it’s fair to say that there are days where I simply do not want to feel that sensation or I shove the dildo in at an awkward angle and find the twist working to my disadvantage. Thankfully these cases are rare and for the most part my orgasms with this toy are more akin to It’s almost a mystery cocktail where you know you like all of the ingredients involved but you can’t quite place them (and the balance needs to be just right or the whole thing is thrown off). It’s a confusing but satisfying experience which definitely adds a bit of twist to my climax compared to more conventional dildos.

That being said no toy is perfect and Ceramic Pleasures are certainly still finding their feet. This shows in the product designs, which could do with a few more curves and a few less straight shafts, if you ask me.

Because each Ceramic Pleasure dildo is so unique it can also be hard to gauge exactly how the dildo will feel unless you have a prior frame of reference, so every new purchase could literally be an adventure in to the unknown. This is either a good thing or a bad thing with the outcome depending on how the toy works for you.

It’s fair to say that a spiral dildo will not work for everyone but this is something to keep in mind when selecting the toy itself. Be ambitious when purchasing a Ceramic Pleasure dildo but always keep in mind what you like and do your best to cater your needs to the design. Alternatively talk to John and I’m sure you can come to an arrangement.

On a more objective note I am a bit worried about the open-base of my dildo, which seems to be lacking the glaze, and worry that it’s not as non-porous as the rest of the toy. In future it would be nice if the entire thing could be glazed, if only for reassurance and aesthetic consistency.

Final Thoughts

Overall I adore my Ceramic Pleasure dildo, even if I consider it to be a very acquired taste.

Spiral dildos may be a bit of a niche design but the beauty of Ceramic Pleasure is that they offer a multitude of designs, with the owner receptive to custom work.

In terms of quality and finish this dildo is near-faultless and a true work of art. I’ve shown it to everyone who will give me the time of the day and each one has commented on just how beautiful the finished product is.

When you buy a Ceramic Pleasure Dildo you’re buying an entire experience—from selecting your dream dildo to discovering the benefits of a ceramic toy to actually exploring how it works with your body. The entire process feels special and I am baffled that such amazing items are being sold at such an affordable price.

I highly recommend that you check out these beautiful objects, as they’re well worth sampling.

But Wait, There’s More!

In his generosity John provided me with not one, not two, but an entire box full of dildos to test! Now, naturally things would get rather repetitive if I gave a full review for each of these, so instead I’m launching a new feature—Ceramic Samplings—where I showcase one of these dildos each in a brief appraisal post. This way you can get an idea for what Ceramic Pleasure has to offer and have a frame of reference to let John know just what you want.

I look forward to starting this segment and welcome any feedback as I move forward with it.
