Toy Review: The Sh! Swell Vibrator

If you’re looking for a G-spotting toy which can be used externally, crave deep, rumbly, powerful vibrations, and want a luxury toy with all the perks then the Sh! Swell Vibrator may just be the best £45 investment that you’ll ever make.

I’m not joking around here. This toy deserves a direct appraisal because the toy itself gets straight to the point. It’s a practical piece of kit that delivers an impressive amount of power which literally made me say ‘holy shit’ the first time I turned it on and realized just how throbbing and rumbly its vibrations were. This sense of awe only grew as I ramped up the speeds and I knew right there and then that this vibrator was special.

When it comes to vibrations there is only one other toy that seems to have the same resonant, body-quivering vibrators of the Sh! Swell and it costs almost twice the amount.

But before I end up gushing too much about this vibrator (which the power queens among you should totally buy, like, right now) let’s get in to the specs.

The Sh! Swell Vibrator

The Swell Vibrator is provided by Sh! which is an important aspect of the toy itself. Y’see Sh! have been around for a long time (24 years) and have, in those years, had a significant impact on the adult industry and the way that it approaches female sexuality. In keeping with this Sh! have a strong focus on the individual user’s experience and try to do everything possible to match the right toy with the right user.

To this end each Sh! product comes with some information about the toy, along with some free samples of items such as lubricant, sex toy cleaner, etc. and the Swell is no different.

You can expect the Swell to come with an array of complementary items.

My Swell arrived in a nice sturdy box accompanied by a small sachet of Sh! Pure Lube and an antibacterial sex toy wipe. It also came with a wonderfully soft storage bag which I was very pleased about. A lot of ‘luxury’ vibrators still don’t provide storage bags with their items (especially when they’re in the £40-50 price range) so I was pleasantly surprised to see that Sh! had decided to go the extra mile with this addition.

And, as stated above, my toy also came with a little leaflet describing the Swell, giving its main specifications and even offering advice as to how best to use the Swell (for those who are curious Sh! recommend that you “rock the Swell vibrator against your G-Spot, rather than stroking in and out” and I have to agree).

In terms of those specs. The Sh! Swell is a G-Spot vibrator with a focus on girth, texture, and strong vibrations. It focuses heavily on depth and trying to provide the right type of vibrations for effective G-Spot stimulation. The Sh! Swell has a useable length of 6 inches and a maximum diameter of 1.5 inches, which may not sound like much for some but the bulge of the Sh! Swell, which is strategically decorated in textured ripples, helps make it seem girthier than it is during use.

These ripples add to the sense of expansion that this toy can provide.

The Sh! Swell is USB rechargeable and 100% waterproof (again, both impressive features for a toy in this price range). It has a very easy to use + and – control system which helps filter through its 7 different vibration modes (comprised of 3 different intensities and 4 different patterns). I suppose if there was one thing we could criticize the Sh! Swell on here it’s that the patterns have a set intensity rather than the user being able to control their intensity too, but that shouldn’t be an issue for most people.

The shaft of the Sh! Swell is made from silicone whereas the handle is made from ABS plastic. Both materials are non-porous, both are phthalate-free, and both are hypoallergenic and completely body-safe. The silicone used for the Sh! Swell has a matte surface which feels silky smooth but still manages to provide the necessary drag during use. When lubed up it’s the perfect amount to catch your body’s attention during use and draw it in deeper without ever feeling uncomfortable. I personally found that this silicone didn’t gather any dust or other debris either, which is a great plus.

Being waterproof, the Sh! Swell is very easy to clean and the USB charging for the Sh! Swell is very well thought out. A magnetic clip is used to charge the Sh! Swell. Typically these are disliked in the adult community, as they have a tendency to be easily nudged out-of-place, thus wasting potential charge-time. But, giving it some much-appreciated forethought, Sh! has negated this issue by providing an indented section of the charge point (kind of shaped like the mouth of a smile face) in which a raised section of the charger slots in to place. This means that the magnetic clip is securely fastened and shows that creators with practical knowledge of people’s daily sex toy struggles will always trump the out-of-touch conventional ‘pleasure object’ producer. But I digress.

The design of this magnetic clip brings a smile to my face.

What really makes the Sh! Swell shine to me (and I mean like the sun on a hot summer’s day) are its vibrations. Sh! describe the Sh! Swell’s vibrations as ‘Wowser/Deep Throbby’ and yes, that is the perfect description. Even on its lowest settings the deep-set, quaking motions of the Sh! Swell are incredibly impressive for a product in its price range (or any price range, for that matter).

As you progress through the intensities none of this penetrating rumble is compromised. Instead it is simply ramped up in intensity and manages to resonate deep within the body. On the final setting the frequency of these vibrations increases but, again, the essence of the vibrations is still fully maintained, and the resulting intensity spreads far beyond where I apply the toy.

The vibrations themselves have a deep quiver to them which is almost indescribable. As I said in my review, there is only one other vibrator that has similar vibrations in my mind and that’s the Lelo Smart Wand Large when it’s on ‘rumbly-mode’. Yeah. I said it. Granted the Swell isn’t quite as powerful/deep as the Smart Wand Large (although it’s a close competition) but, unbelievably, the Sh! Swell actually has a bit of an edge over my favourite vibrator.

It’s a well-known kink of the Smart Wand Large that sometimes it will feel rumbly but other times it will shift over to a rapid buzzy mode and lose its depth as part of the massage feature of the toy. The Sh! Swell has no such issue so you get all the oomph all the time. In fact at one point my Lelo Smart Wand ran out of battery mid-session so I decided to switch to the Sh! Swell and felt no major sense of detriment or lacking. I also had a fucking amazing orgasm, but that seems to be the Sh! Swell’s calling card too.

This toy works magic with my body. Combined with a good wand it becomes near-legendary.

Orgasms with the Sh! Swell are genuinely amazing. When I use it clitorally it replaces my wand in regards to providing adequate depth and strength for a strong climax. However when I use it internally the strength and style of the Sh! Swell’s vibrations combined with its shape give me orgasms which feel as if I’m about to burst, as they provide such a strong and overpowering release. When I do use this with my Lelo Smart Wand Large the vibrations also perfectly complement each other, providing a power queen power house of sensations which has to be experienced to be believed.

Given how much I enjoy this toy (and how unbelievably affordable it is for the vibration strength and features that it provides) it’s hard to fault this product. But, sadly, no toy is perfect, even those who are objectively exceptional.

Sticking to an objective note the shaft of the Swell is rather flexible and does feel a little bit flimsy compared to other luxury G-Spot vibrators on the market. This flexibility will also affect personal preference, as users who like to apply a lot of pressure to their G-Spot may find that this flexibility hinders them.

Speaking of personal preference those who dislike strong vibrators probably won’t get along with the Sh! Swell, as it starts rather strong and just gets more intense from there on. The Sh! Swell also feels rather large during use, which means that users who prefer a slimmer-feeling toy may be deterred by this product.

Personally I found that, although I enjoyed the Sh! Swell a lot internally, its bulbous section would sometimes sit awkwardly inside of my body. This wasn’t always the case, and is probably a case of individual experience, but it’s worth noting nonetheless.

And, finally, (returning to one last objective point) the + button on the Sh! Swell sometimes didn’t like being turned on, even when pressed and held down. This was never a big issue but I do recommend being very precise with how you press the button during use.

Final Thoughts

There is no hesitation in my mind when it comes to this vibrator: If you’re a power queen/rumble-lover looking for an affordable G-Spot toy which can also satisfy your clitoral cravings then this toy should be at the top of your shopping list.

I’ve said it a few times now but at £45 you really can’t go wrong with this vibrator, as it provides as much as toys twice its price (or even more, in the instance of some products).

I cannot recommend the Sh! Swell highly enough and give my endorsement with the full confidence that Sh! will provide the utmost service to each and every one of its customers. After all, it’s all about you.
