Toy Review: The Magic Motion Flamingo Wearable Bluetooth Vibrator

When I made my Sex Toy Bucket List this year the Magic Motion Flamingo was firmly on the list. Why? Well just look at it!

This playful sex toy is a discreet wearable which vibrator, which can also be used as a kegel exerciser, which can also be used to make custom vibrations, which can also vibrate in time to your playlist, which is also shaped as a flamingo. There isn’t a single part of that which doesn’t sound truly awesome.

To my utter delight Shop Naughty helped me check this sex toy want off of my bucket list pretty soon and, now that I’ve tried it, what do I have to say? No regrets!

This is one incredibly versatile vibrator and, unlike some toys (which sacrifice practicality for gimmick) the Magic Motion Flamingo manages to be a Jack of many trades and the master of quite a few too.

The Magic Motion Flamingo Wearable Bluetooth Vibrator

The Magic Motion Flamingo is, at its most basic, an egg-shaped vibrator made to look like a flamingo. Because of this it functions in much the same way as an egg-shaped vibrator—being great for clitoral use, internal use, and as a fun warm-up toy for couples. Its shape also makes it good for kegel exercises, though some may consider it a bit slim for this job. To give its exact measurements, the egg-shapes bullet comes in at 3 inches in length and has a circumference of 3.75. The long flamingo neck, once fully stretched out, comes in at 5.25 inches but when folded over stands at only 1.5 inches tall.

Quirky, appealing and effective. What's not to love?

Although the flamingo head of the Magic Motion Flamingo does have some vibration to it I’d say its main purpose was to tease and warm up the user and not to take them all the way, so my focus in this review will be on the primary vibrations of this vibrator, which come from its main body.

The head of the Flamingo is also the button used to control it. The Flamingo can be used independently or with its connected app. While it’s possible to navigate the independent mode I have to say I much prefer the freedom of choice that the app gives. Because of this I highly encourage potential buyers of the Flamingo to check to see if their phone can handle the app. It is iOS and Android compatible but requires an Android OS of 4.3 or up and needs a device with Bluetooth 4.0 minimum. I’ll get back to the app later but as long as you have these specs. Then you’re good to go.

The entirety of the Flamingo is covered in silicone which is phthalate-free, non-porous and completely body safe. This silicone feels nice and smooth with a good amount of drag. This allows the Flamingo to have a nice grip during use without ever feeling like it grabs or grates against the skin (which nobody wants). The Flamingo is also completely waterproof, making it a breeze to clean, and is USB rechargeable. A single charge will get you up to 2 hours of use, which I found was a good amount of time. While charging an LED light in the Flamingo’s head will let you know how the charge is going.

This toy can be controlled manually via the remote but then you miss a key component of the toy.

As an extra bonus the Flamingo also comes with a storage bag, making it very easy to store and transport. The reasonable size of the Flamingo and relative-difficulty that would be involved in accidentally turning it on makes me think that it could be a great travel vibrator. That being said, it doesn’t have a designated travel lock.

The vibrations from the Flamingo sincerely impressed me. I was very excited to try this toy but I’ve also seen enough toys pour all of their efforts into being innovative and not enough into the actual strength and effectiveness of the vibrations. So imagine my delight when I had an orgasm with the Flamingo with relative ease. The Flamingo is not quite as strong as the Tango or some of the Lelo clitoral vibes but it’s strong enough that I have no issue using it as a clitoral vibrator. It’s also rumbly enough that I can feel the vibrations travelling deep into my vulva, under the skin and into the internal section of the clitoris. I tend to use my Flamingo at 100% but I don’t have to and can orgasm with it on gentler settings. The Flamingo definitely has the strength and depth to justify its price and it has delivered some very strong and enjoyable orgasms to me. All while looking absolutely adorable.

Now, the reason I am easily able to navigate the Flamingo’s vibration intensity or nine different set patterns is because of the app, which is absolutely amazing. It’s easy to navigate, packed full of features and has a beautiful flamingo aesthetic which is just darling.

There are quite a few features on the app so I think I’ll go through them individually in terms of what they do and my user experience.

The Flamingo really knows how to app-ly itself.
The Flamingo really knows how to app-ly itself.

Music Player: This was one of the big selling points for me. The Magic Motion app will pick up the mp3s on your device and will vibrate the Flamingo along with them. Sadly Spotify is not compatible with the feature…aaaand the only non-Spotify music I had on my phone was the Undertale soundtrack. Long story short I am deeply sorry Toby Fox.

While I was excited for the Music Player it’s probably one of the least practical for me. Yes, it’s great for warm ups, but the vibrations themselves don’t actually seem to correlate to the music as precisely as I’d like and my general dislike of patterns for a strong finish meant that this feature was a starting show for me rather than the main event. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but it is what it is.

Kegel Training: The Flamingo makes a pretty straightforward but still effective vibrator. All you have to do is clench your muscles in time with the vibrations. Simple but effective. All the way along you’re joined by a voice guide and she sounds like a real sweetheart. This may make the kegel training seem a bit gimmicky for some. Personally it endeared the Flamingo to me. I also found that the exercises were pretty effective. You really can’t fault them.

The only thing which might disappoint some is that you don’t get feedback, like you do with the kGoal, but no vibrator can be perfect, especially when kegel training is just one of the many features that it offers.

Voice: This one is another gimmicky-but-fun feature. This setting will use the mic on your phone to adjust the vibrations based on what the mic picks up. Funnily enough I actually found this worked better than the music feature at times. I simply left my Spotify on, put the phone near my speakers and went nuts. However it also performs really well at its intended task of picking up gentle whispers and loud commands. Generally I’m impressed with it.

Pattern: This gives you access to nine different patterns and the ability to control their intensity. It’s sweet, simple, and effective and something I feel pattern lovers will really appreciate. What makes it stand out for me is the ability to control the intensity, which you don’t always get with set patterns. I think this could be a game changer for some.

Custom: You get to make your own pattern by varying the intensity on eight different scalers. The downside of this is you can’t change the speed through which the Flamingo filters through these scales but it’s still very responsive to the intensities and provides a great way to customize your experience.

Manual: My Go-to method. A sliding scale which allows you to decide the intensity of continual vibrations. You can’t go wrong with something like this, especially when the Flamingo is so responsive to the slider. Perfection.

Games: So far there is only one game called ‘Motion Sensor’. Basically you or your partner can shake the phone to control the vibrations. Another straightforward feature but one that is great for some cheeky pre-sex teasing.

There is also a statistics chart which allows you to see how long you used your Flamingo for, just in case you want to have nerdy sex (I do).

Each of these features worked really well which left me suitably impressed. There aren’t that many toys which realize the potential of their toy and utilize it to full effect but the Flamingo is definitely one of them.

So are there any downsides to this toy?

Well if you were hoping to use it as a dual-stimulation vibrator then I maintain that the vibrations that carry to the Flamingo’s head are too gentle to provide meaningful stimulation, which might be disappointing for some.

While the Flamingo is quiet it’s also not completely whisper quiet, which might make public use risky. In a noisy room I feel like you could safely use the Flamingo, but in a quieter environment? I wouldn’t risk it.

Users in a LDR may also be sad to hear that the Flamingo isn’t compatible with long distance use yet. In fact, while I’m on the topic, I couldn’t find the exact range of use for this toy anywhere in the manual. It could be that it’s dependent on your phone’s Bluetooth. For us it worked well while in the same room and I don’t have a very small room, so I’m willing to say it’s got a reasonable range.

Final Thoughts

When I added the Flamingo on to my 2016 bucket list my reasoning was entirely because it looked like fun. And, yes, this toy is great fun (the most amusing sex toy I’ve used all year so far) but it’s also more than that. The Flamingo is a practical, enjoyable, versatile, and fulfilling vibrator which I feel can satisfy quite a lot of people.

For the amount of features it possesses it is very well priced and I feel like it will give users a lot of benefits to work with. This really is a great toy and I’m happy to be able to recommend it to my readers.
