Toy Review: The We-Vibe Rave

Allow me to rave about this toy. No, not because it’s a pun (okay, maybe a little) but because the We-Vibe Rave deserves the high praise I intend to give it. It works and it works well. This toy is a fantastic addition to the We-Vibe line and an even better addition to my toy chest. I am totally enthusiastic about this product.

There’s just so much to appreciate about this fantastic new toy. The shape, the material, the power. Everything comes together to make the We-Vibe Rave one awesome vibrator. I can see this becoming one of my favourite toys of 2016 and the year’s only just started. Oh yeah, I’m pumped.

The We-Vibe Rave

The We-Vibe Rave is We-Vibe’s first official attempt at creating a G-Spot vibrator (as opposed to a G-Spot bullet sleeve or a couples vibrator with an internal arm). Because of this We-Vibe had a lot to prove with the Rave and you can tell that they put their all into this product.

The company that owns We-Vibe (Standard Innovation) also made a smart business move and acquired Laid, the company that creates awesome asymmetrical sex toys made out of materials such as Black Granite and Blue Pearl Larvikite. Laid have quite a lot of experience when it comes to designing effective dildos and you can certainly see their influence in the We-Vibe Rave—as the Rave also has an asymmetrical design.

This may be somewhat of a divisive point for some people.

The We-Vibe Rave's asymmetrical appearance may bother some.
The We-Vibe Rave’s asymmetrical appearance may bother some.

Personally I love the asymmetry of the We-Vibe Rave, as I feel like it allows you to explore the toy in a more active and meaningful way. After all, with an asymmetrical design you’re practically forced to explore what section works for you, what angle it works at, and why it feels good, just to name a few points. This is the case both internally and externally, as the Rave also makes a great clitoral vibrator (but more on that later).

Meanwhile Mr. Peaches really dislikes the design of the Rave for no reason other than its asymmetry. Mr. Peaches loves harmonic aesthetics and the uneven design of the Rave just irks him on a personal level. This doesn’t detract from the toy’s performance at all but I can see how it might deter some people.

The We-Vibe Rave is a very simple vibrator in terms of execution and it has everything you’d want from it…well, almost. My one issue with the We-Vibe Rave is that it’s splash proof and not waterproof. I feel like nowadays luxury vibrators really should get waterproofing down properly but, then again, I’m a sex toy snob.

As for its other features, the We-Vibe Rave is USB rechargeable (with 90 minutes giving up to 2 hours of play), has a low-power alert indicator, and comes with a storage bag and a 1-year warranty. It also allows you to control the vibration intensity through its easy-to-use control panel and has 10 patterns by standard.

The controls are very straight-forward.
The controls are very straight-forward.

Because We-Vibe are amazing the We-Vibe Rave is also compatible with the We-Vibe app—allowing users to control the vibrations and their intensity on their mobile screen. This can done solo or you can use the app to connect to your partner from anywhere in the world (with some set up obviously required). As part of the app experience you can also make your own patterns but, I have to admit, I haven’t tinkered with it much personally. I’m too enamored with the Rave as it is.

The We-Vibe Rave is made with silicone which is phthalate-free, non-porous and completely body-safe. This silicone feels lovely and smooth, with a matte surface and just the right amount of drag. It’s a bit of a dust and (oddly enough) scuff magnet but this isn’t a major issue. The controls are nicely built into the silicone and really do feel great to use, though I do have to admit I had to get used to their placement at first.

With an average diameter of 1.22 inches and a length of 7.6 inches the We-Vibe Rave is also quite a humble and approachable vibrator. I can imagine most people being able to use this toy, although the asymmetry does make insertion feel a bit more difficult than symmetrical toys of a similar size. This, to me, is part of the charm of the Rave—it defies expectations and commands your attention—but I understand if this isn’t for everyone. Especially if you typically prefer smaller toys.

The measurements as seen on the Rave page.

The reasonable size of the We-Vibe Rave means that it can be used clitorally too with relative ease and, let me say, I absolutely adore how this vibrator feels on my clit. With strikingly powerful vibrations which spread throughout my entire genital region the We-Vibe Rave has certainly become a contender for my wands. Sure, my wands are undeniably stronger, but the balance of strength and size is very impressive in the We-Vibe Rave. Also while it’s not as strong as my favourite wands the We-Vibe Rave is stronger than some of the wands I own, which is saying something.

The vibrations themselves start off as a rumbling, almost rattling purr before moving into a revving motor feeling and finally becoming a deeply rumbly but also high-humming vibration. The We-Vibe Rave does come dangerously close to being what I would consider buzzy but it never quite crosses that line and it never sacrifices depth for vibration intensity. That being said I don’t often need it on maximum to orgasm clitorally, it’s that effective. My external orgasms with the We-Vibe Rave are always fully satisfying and up to the task. Their length tends to depend on what dildo I’m using but I always get the impression that the Rave will keep me going for as long as the dildo does; there’s no give or need to compromise. It’s just what I want when I want it.

This toy is great for all sorts of stimulation.

Internally the We-Vibe Rave is equally impressive. I tend to keep the vibrations lower internally but I do get the feeling that things could get quite intense for those who like a stronger internal vibe. You can also tell that this was designed as an internal vibrator as the vibrations feel smooth and wholly suited to internal stimulation. The asymmetric shape of the We-Vibe Rave keeps my vagina guessing and, subsequently heightens my arousal levels. The result is strong, prolonged orgasms which feel like the deep throb of a professional speaker system. The afterglow is also rave-like; similar to that haze when you lose yourself in a particularly intense song, feeling your body ignite late into the night.

This is the type of toy that I would love to have two of, just to that I could use one externally and the other internally. I can only imagine how amazing that would feel.

So with so much praise being aimed at the Rave in this review do I have anything bad to say? I think you already know the answer to that. After all no toy is perfect.

I don't like longer prongs, they make me feel uneasy.
I don’t like longer prongs, they make me feel uneasy.

That being said my gripes with the We-Vibe Rave are very minor. Its charge prong is very long and I generally dislike skewering my toys. If not in the mood for it the asymmetry of this toy can feel a bit uncomfortable at first and I still wish it was waterproof. However, outside of these minor complaints I have very little to say against the We-Vibe Rave. I actually put it in my ‘top toys’ toy drawer before I’d even finished testing it, it felt that good to me.

Final Thoughts

Overall I am thrilled with the We-Vibe Rave, not just as a G-Spotting vibrator but also as a solid clitoral vibrator too. The We-Vibe Rave is very accessible and its asymmetrical shape beckons exploration which, to my mind, makes it a great choice for beginners and veterans alike. The vibration range is good, the depth is better, and it’s made from high-quality materials.

I feel like this toy will have a widespread appeal and I have no problem wholeheartedly recommending it.

Recommend to:

People looking for a G-Spot & clitoral vibrator.

People who like strong vibrations.

People who like deep vibrations.

Do Not Recommend to:

People looking for a symmetrical toy.

People looking for a submersible toy.

Rumble purists.

This toy was provided to me by We-Vibe in exchange for an honest review.

  • Ahh, thanks so much for this review! I’ve been dying to hear more about the Rave, and I think this is the first full review that I’ve seen of it!

You mention that the Rave is borderline buzzy, which isn’t something that I usually associate with We Vibe. Can I ask if you think it feels more like the We Vibe 4 or more like Tango? :)

    • Thank you for your kinds words. I have now pulled out my Tango and my We-Vibe 4 and I can say that the Wave feels much more similar to the Tango than the We Vibe 4.
When holding the Tango and Rave one in each hand I found that the strengths were similar but the We-Vibe Rave felt more rapid in terms of its vibrations which ups the intensity. If you like the Tango’s vibrations though you will most likely enjoy the Rave.

whats with the weird seam going all around it? it looks like it would scratch you if you tried to thrust it

    • I believe the seam is just where they’ve not gone for a seam-free design. It looks a bit unsightly but you can’t really feel it during use I find.

I was curious how this compares to the Je Joue Uma and also what else is currently in your favorite toy drawer

    • I think that the Je Joue Uma’s vibrations are much more undulating, similar in some ways to ongoing palpitations rather than consistent and smooth vibrations. Both are deep and impressive in terms of strength but I would say that the Rave was stronger. And, as I dislike the vibrations of Je Joue’s line anyway, I do have a preference towards the We-Vibe Rave.

In terms of my Top Drawer it is currently occupied with the We-Vibe Rave, the Lelo Smartwand Large, the PalmPower Recharge, Bad Dragon’s Meng, The Tantus Splash, the We-Vibe Tango, and the Lil Dragon, though things do get shuffled around a lot.

for someone who hasn’t found their G spot yet, would you recommend this as a starter toy or is there a different one that you think would fit the bill better?
