Toy Review: The Je Joue Mimi Soft

Sometimes a softer touch is better.

Hard toys have their place in the industry but some people have a preference to more delicate materials. Plastic can feel quite rigid, after all, and its unyielding form can really clash with people’s personal preference. This is especially the case with clitoral vibes and this is also where the Je Joue Mimi Soft comes in.

Aspiring to provide a gentler alternative to some clitoral toys, the Je Joue Mimi Soft is designed to be delicate in form whilst continuing to be strong in function.

Je Joue were kind enough to provide me with the Je Joue Mimi Soft in exchange for an honest review and I’ve certainly enjoyed my time with it.

The Je Joue Mimi Soft

The Je Joue Mimi Soft comes wonderfully presented in a sturdy black box, which works as a gift box and storage box in equal measure. Along with a charger, the Mimi Soft comes with a stylish satin blindfold. This little gift is meant to appeal to couples, who can use the Mimi Soft to explore each other’s bodies too. Personally I would have also liked a storage bag, but the blindfold provided is undeniably elegant.

The Mimi Soft is actually an alternate version of Je Joue’s Mimi Clitoral Vibrator. At only £5.00 more the Mimi Soft provides a gentler, squishable tip for those who dislike rigid toys.

Although the entirety of the Mimi Soft has a layer of soft silicone it is the very tip that has some squish to it—making it ideal for those who love the vibrations that Je Joue provides but dislike firmer toys for pin point stimulation. The potency and shape of the Je Joue Mimi Soft also opens it up to alternative methods of play and allows users to explore in various ways.

This silicone is velvety smooth and very inviting. Je Joue suggest that the Mimi Soft could be used as a ‘body massager with a difference’. Feeling the Mimi Soft’s silicone I could see why. It would certainly add a little something to a sensation play session.

Being made of silicone the Mimi Soft is, of course, phthalate-free, non-porous, hypoallergenic, and completely body safe. If you were thinking of using the Mimi Soft as a massager then water and oil based massage products would be fine but stay clear of silicone. Silicone toys and silicone lubricants/massage products don’t mix well.

The Mimi Soft is rechargeable via a magnetic clip (with 2 hours of charge giving 2 hours of play time). This means that the Mimi Soft is also 100% waterproof and submersible. It is also completely seamless. In terms of volume the Mimi Soft does make a rather distinct noise but Mr. Peaches and I could not hear it through our door.

The Mimi Soft has some nice features to it.
The Mimi Soft has some nice features to it.

The Mimi Soft is shaped like an oval but with one tip (the clitoral one) being a bit narrower. It is 3.5 inches in length and had a width of just under 2.5 inches at its widest point. For me this makes the Mimi Soft easy to hold and to apply to my vulva. When using it on my clitoris it is a bit wide but not uncomfortably so. It just takes some time to find the ideal position for me.

As a neat little recommendation you can actually hold the Mimi Soft a little lower down the hand with the index finger and middle finger extended. If you turn the Mimi Soft on this then allows the vibrations to transfer through your fingers and acts as a less intense source of vibration. This also allows couples to make their fingers into vibrators and provides an intimate method of teasing various body parts. Of course the vibration intensity of the Mimi Soft is diluted during this tactic but it carries well enough to provide a fun method of exploration.

In terms of vibrations the Mimi Soft has 5 different intensity levels and 6 different patterns. Je Joue’s vibrations always seem to stand out for me and this was also the case with the Mimi Soft. Rapidly juddering on the lowest setting, the Mimi Soft’s vibrations almost flicker with a deep resonance that is wholly unique to the Je Joue line.

This trend continues as the vibrations get stronger up until the very final setting. The Mimi Soft then changes pace to become more of a consistent buzz with an underlying rumble. This isn’t necessarily disappointing but it is a bit of a shame that the flickering sensation is lost on the strongest setting. Still the Mimi Soft’s vibrations are impressive in terms of strength. They should satisfy most fans of conventional clitoral vibes (though they may leave some wand users wanting more).

When using the Mimi Soft I mainly stay in the mid-to-high intensities and revel in that reverberating flutter that it provides. Because these vibrations are so different to what I’m used to it can take longer to orgasm with the Mimi Soft but I definitely enjoy the journey. It’s like my clit is getting pampered and teased by the quivering chorus of the Mimi Soft’s vibrations. Certainly something I can enjoy, but also something I need to be in the mood for.

The orgasms I achieve with the Mimi Soft are enjoyable; they last a fair amount of time as the vibrations of the Mimi Soft complement and prolong them to a degree. I wouldn’t say they were overwhelmingly strong. ‘Satisfying’ is the right word.

In terms of downsides there are a few with the Mimi Soft.

I think some people would be expecting the Mimi Soft to be consistently squishy. However it is only the very tip of the Mimi Soft that has considerable squish to it’. The rest of the vibe, while not incredibly rigid, is not exactly plush either.

Personal preference can also be a factor. While I do enjoy using the Mimi Soft it’s not necessarily my preferred method of masturbation; it’s more of a delicate treat, something to be used when I’m feeling mellow. As a result the Mimi Soft may leave some hardcore power queens frustrated and the shape isn’t right for everyone.

The buttons on the Mimi Soft are also incredibly hard to press and require a firm touch. This can be both good and bad. It’s good in that you can’t accidentally change settings during in use, but you can’t do it easily deliberately either. When ramping up the Mimi Soft I have to actively remove it from my clit and firmly press the button down, which can be a bit of a mood killer.

I wish Je Joue would change how difficult their buttons are to press because it’s probably the biggest issue I have with their toys. Sometimes it actually hurts to change their buttons, they’re that firm. This is something that Curious Clementine has observed too.

Other than that there aren’t any other real downsides with the Mimi Soft. People who prefer conventional vibrations might find the Mimi Soft to be a bit off kilter for them but, personally, I think they add to the charm of this effective vibrator.

Final Thoughts

Overall I think the Je Joue Mimi Soft does a very good job at presenting itself as a clitoral toy with a bit of a couples’ twist.

Its size and shape make it great for its primary purpose while also allowing it the diversity needed for further exploration. This exploration includes not only couples’ play but also personal exploration; as Je Joue’s vibrations provide a nice variation to the usual vibration style.

The soft exterior of the Mimi Soft is contrasted effectively with the decent power that its vibrations provide and allows it to appeal to most people’s comfort zones. If flickering vibes that rapidly resonate appeal to you then why not try out the Mimi Soft? You might find that you have a soft spot for it too.
