Impact play has been a growing favourite in my assortment of sexual antics as of late. I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t, in part, due to the magnificent sting of the Tantus Pelt—which earned my respect from the very first hit.
It’s also fair to say that the Pelt has made me a bit of an addict. I now crave the sting of its silicone surface and, of course, I wanted to see how the other Tantus paddles fared in comparison. So, when Tantus offered me a chance to review more of their products, I jumped at the chance to review the Tantus Plunge Paddle.
My one of my favourite paddle and dildo companies making a toy that acts as both? YES PLEASE!
The Tantus Plunge Paddle
The Tantus Plunge Paddle is, put simply, a paddle with a dildo for a handle. It may not sound like much (or may even sound odd at first) but it certainly takes things to the next level—providing foreplay, afterplay, and everything in between.
The Plunge Paddle has a total length of about 13 inches, 6 of which is insertable, and a width of 3.25 inches for the head of the paddle. The insertable dildo had a maximum circumference of just over 4 inches, though most of the shaft is slimmer than this.
The paddle is made out of 100% Ultra-Premium silicone, making it non-porous, phthalate-free, hypoallergenic and generally awesome and body safe. Tantus have long been champions of Ultra-Premium silicone and I personally believe that their dedication to such a body safe material is one of the reasons that they deserve so much respect.
The Tantus Plunge Paddle’s silicone is smooth and has an almost powdery feel to it. Like the Pelt, this makes the Plunge ideal for stroking against a person’s body before beginning with some light hits, as well as for soothing their skin afterwards. Because this silicone does have a bit of drag to it the insertable handle also feels quite prominent during use—providing the perfect amount of grab.
The handle of the Plunge Paddle, being a dildo, is rather firm with a little bit of give. It has a hole running through its bulbous head, too, which can be used to run a cord through.
At the point where the handle transitions into the paddle the silicone becomes much more flexible and easy to wobble from side-to side. When I first held the Plunge this really surprised me—as the Pelt, by comparison, has a similar level of give throughout the toy.
Because the Plunge has this sudden transition in silicone flexibility the paddle section ends up being much more…swooshy, for lack of a better word. This means that very little wrist action is needed to provide a decent swing and slap of the Plunge Paddle and it can dish out some brutal punishment when some strength is put behind it.
The sensation of the Plunge is something that has to be felt to be believed. A sharp, deep, stinging sensation that spreads throughout my body and ignites my nerves with a tingling flame. I think that’s the best way I can describe light hits with the Plunge Paddle, from there it just gets more intense.
Of course the level of pain that the Plunge can dish out depends on the area hit and the amount of strength in the swing, but sharp stingy pain is pretty much what you can expect to experience (along with a sudden desire to misbehave more, so as to incur some more ‘punishments’).
Both Mr. Peaches and I really appreciate the Plunge. We especially appreciate the minimal effort it requires to get some decent sensation, but this does mean that ongoing communication is vital when using this formidable tool.
As a dildo the Tantus Plunge’s name is 100% accurate. I certainly love plunging this paddle into my vagina and going to town on my G-spot and I do so with great enthusiasm.
I was initially worried that I would feel the hole in the bulbous head of the Plunge but I can’t, all I can feel is that great, curved shape easily identifying and stimulating my G-spot. The firmness of the Plunge Paddle makes it especially good for applying pressure.
Despite my usual habits I also quite enjoyed thrusting with the Plunge’s dildo. Utilized in this manner the drag of the Plunge’s material really shines through and allows the head of the Plunge to excel.
If you’re curious as to why climaxing with the Plunge takes so long then I have a clear answer for you. Much like with the House of Eros G-Spot Flogger having the paddle part of the Plunge Paddle in between my legs while using the dildo can be quite distracting. This redirection of my attention can make it hard to climax but does nothing to affect the enjoyment of the orgasm once it comes. There are also positions where the shape of the Plunge is not an issue.
The only other downside I have with the Plunge is that, because of the hole in the head, it can be a bit more difficult to clean. As a silicone toy the Plunge can be boiled, is dishwasher safe, and does just fine with a rinse in soap and water but you need to be thorough to get into those nooks and crannies. A q-tip might be necessary.
Any other qualms you might have with this product tend to be personal preference. If you prefer a thumping sensation to a stinging one then the Plunge might not be exactly what you’re looking for. Those who are new to impact play may also need to be a bit gentle when first using this toy but I do personally think that anyone at any experience level can use this toy.
Overall I really enjoyed using the Tantus Plunge, both as a paddle and a dildo. If you’re the type of person who is craving a sharp impact play product with a little bit extra then the Tantus Plunge is certainly a good candidate. As both a dildo and a paddle the Tantus Plunge excels and keeps to the high standards that I’ve come to expect of Tantus. I know I will be using it again, and again and I hope that others who buy the Tantus Plunge will feel the same way too.
