Product Review: The Lelo Luna Beads Noir

Ever since the advent of the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon kegel beads have been selling like nobody’s business, and who can blame people? In addition to giving life to a kinky fantasy a good set of kegel beads can help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles and provide stronger orgasms and better control all around.

When it comes to luxury products Lelo is often at the forefront of the industry. Sleek, elegant, and sometimes unabashedly lavish, Lelo’s products seem, to many, to be the best option for fulfilling one’s desires.

Naturally, then, Lelo’s Luna Beads Noir evoke a certain feeling upon viewing; a certain amount of dignity and prestige. Taking a sidestep away from the pinks and blues of the standard Lelo Luna Beads the Lelo Luna Beads Noir are much more elegant in appearance. However what really matters to me is their effectiveness as a product.

Can the Lelo Luna Beads Noir deliver on their high class aesthetic or are they lacking in practicality? Read on to find out.

The Lelo Luna Beads Noir

If you’re a long-term reader then you will know that I have reviewed, and loved, the original Lelo Luna Beads. The interchangeable beads, the body safe design, and the distinctive jiggle that the Lelo Luna Beads provided made them a firm favourite of mine. However, while the Lelo Luna Beads Noir follow the same basic premise of their larger, more colourful counterparts the focus of the Noir beads seems to be much more on a concentrated workout.

The Lelo Luna Beads Noir are elegant and effective.
The Lelo Luna Beads Noir are elegant and effective.

The Lelo Luna Beads Noir set consists of two independent beads (each weighted at 37g), a smooth silicone holder for the beads, a sachet of lube, and a practical satin storage bag. The Noir beads also come with a 1 year warranty which become valid after you register the beads over at Lelo’s site.

Because the beads included are on the heavier side and are smaller they are meant to be much more for intermediate to advanced kegel users—as it takes more effort to work out with smaller, heavier beads. This means that you should only really consider getting these beads if you’re already an accomplished kegel exerciser, as those new to kegel beads might struggle with prolonged use.

The Noir beads themselves can either be used one at a time, together without the silicone sleeve or together with the silicone sleeve. To this effect one of the beads included has a non-porous cord attached to it which allows for easy removal when using that bead or using both beads in the sleeve.

Use the beads in the way that best suits your needs.
You can use the beads in the way that best suits your needs.

The beads are made out of sturdy, non-porous, phthalate-free ABS plastic while the silicone sleeve is equally body safe. The beads are firm and smooth whereas the silicone sleeve is flexible and feels silky smooth.

Lelo have mastered silicone and the sleeve for these beads is perfection. Not only does it feel great but it is incredibly easy to insert the beads and remove them as it needed and it a breeze to clean.

One of the great things about the Lelo Luna Noir Beads is that they incentivise your kegel workout by adding an internal free-roaming ball to their beads which jiggles as you move. This allows for subtle, prolonged stimulation over the duration of their use which leads to increased arousal.

While I personally found the Lelo Luna Noir Beads easy to insert (just lube them up and pop them in) I did find that they didn’t feel as prominent as the Lelo Luna Beads, in fact I really had to work to feel the jiggle of these beads.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing and does make you try to actively focus on your workout a lot more, but during prolonged use I was only occasionally greeted to a subtle surprise jiggling sensation which meant I wasn’t as enthused at using them. They certainly achieve the goal that kegel beads are meant to but as jiggle balls I feel like my preference is towards the original Lelo Luna Beads.

What is great about the Lelo Luna Beads Noir? Well, their small shape (max. 4 inch circumference while in the sleeve) makes them very easy to insert while their silicone sleeve makes them incredibly easy to remove. Meanwhile their small shape really does force you to focus on what you’re doing, making them an effective high class kegel unit. Sensitive users may also find that they’re more receptive to the Noir bead’s jiggles.

When it comes to downsides I suppose I’m a little upset that the Noir beads set only includes two beads (as opposed to four), but this is also reflected in their decreased value.

Final Thoughts

Overall I did enjoy my time with the Lelo Luna Beads Noir, though using them did feel more like a typical kegel exercise rather than an erotic build-up to other activities. This may be exactly what some people want, in which case the Noir beads are worth considering, however those looking for a more substantial jiggle and some additional bead options may be better off looking into the original Lelo Luna Beads.

Recommend to:

People who want intermediate/advanced kegel beads.

People who like a gentle jiggle.

People who want smaller kegel beads.

Do Not Recommend to:

Kegel beginners.

People who prefer a stronger jiggle.

People who want larger kegel beads.
