Toy Review: Sky Cirrus Vibrator by Ave

Often when reviewing a particularly awesome toy I am transported to that figurative zone known as ‘cloud nine’—where everything is happy and I’m just floating is euphoric bliss. However, it is much less typical for the toy that takes me there to be an actual cloud. I am happy to say that the Sky Cirrus helped me alleviate this grave oversight.

That’s right, there’s a vibrator out there shaped like a cloud and I absolutely adore it. The Sky Cirrus Vibrator is one of the more creative luxury vibes on the market and I am really glad that its creativity paid off.

About Mimi De Luxe

The Sky Cirrus Vibrator by Ave was kindly provided to me by my latest sponsor, Mimi De Luxe.

mimideluxe

Mimi De Luxe was first founded in Australia in 2011 by Elle Black but has recently decided to break into the UK market too. This means that both Australian and UK shoppers get the benefit of free shipping and free returns on faulty items.

Mimi De Luxe is dedicated to providing its customers with a premium collection of adult toys and accessories. Everything in store has been researched and deemed to be body safe. The high aesthetic standards of Mimi De Luxe also mean that the website itself is sleek, approachable and very easy to navigate, making shopping on Mimi De Luxe a breeze.

Mimi De Luxe values discretion and puts a firm emphasis on customer service. For me communication was always a breeze with Mimi De Luxe and I always felt welcome and informed.

Mimi De Luxe also has a strict environmental policy; just about everything that can be recycled by them is and paper usage is kept to a minimum. They also refuse to sell one-time use products and put a focus on organic lubricants. Clear bonuses.

My Sky Cirrus arrived impressively fast and was very well packed.

Overall I can definitely recommend Mimi De Luxe; both for its selection of toys and its high standards (to which I hope more retailers will aspire towards).

The Sky Cirrus Vibrator by Ave

The Sky Cirrus Vibrator is a beautifully unique vibrator from Ave. Ave is a Scandinavian company that prides itself on sensation and simplicity and, I have to admit, I hadn’t heard about them until I saw their magnificent-looking products on Mimi De Luxe. I mean it’s a cloud vibrator, a cloud vibrator. Genius. For those who like rabbit style toys Mimi De Luxe also stocks the Sky Alto Vibrator, which is like the Cirrus but with a clitoral arm.

This vibrator has a Cirrus-ly unique appearance.

Both of these vibrators look stunning. The Cirrus is shaped like a cloud—with raised bumps meant for insertion—and has intricate silver swirls indented into the toy. The whole aesthetic of this product gives it an amazingly pure and elegant appearance which instantly makes it stand out. It’s definitely one of my favourite vibrators when it comes to visual appeal and the deep blue colour looks equally stunning.

The surface of the Cirrus is made from silicone—which is phthalate-free, non-porous and generally body safe—while the silver swirls of the Cirrus are made from ABS plastic, which is also non-porous and body safe. The silicone used for the Cirrus feels just as I hoped it would. It’s incredibly soft and delicate; similar, in many ways, the Lelo’s silicone and utterly luxuriant. This silicone responds well to lubricant and is generally a delight to place against one’s skin.

The Cirrus comes in a box which is as elegant as the vibrator itself and makes the Cirrus a great gift. In terms of more compact storage the Cirrus also comes with a storage bag which is unbelievably soft and very practical.

In addition to a beautiful box this vibrator also comes with a lovely storage bag.
In addition to a beautiful box this vibrator also comes with a lovely storage bag (as seen on the Mimi De Luxe site).

In terms of other perks the Cirrus is also waterproof and comes with a three year warranty. The Cirrus is also totally rechargeable and has the most adorable system for charging that I’ve ever seen in a vibrator. Its magnetic charge clip is actually designed to look like swirling clouds and the light that lets you know that your toy is charging is shaped like a lightning bolt. Adorable! The Cirrus takes 120 minutes to charge and provides about 2.5 hours of play time on average. This is a bit different from the Alto (which has a dual-motor system, as opposed to the Cirrus’ single motor).

Even the charger is a cloud!
Even the charger is a cloud!

The Cirrus is controlled by three buttons which are almost completely invisible except for the one arrow button that circulates you through this vibrator’s seven different patterns. The other two buttons filter through the toys vibration intensities and turn the toy on and off. While these are hard to see they are not actually hard to use—as each button resides on the tip of one of the handles cloud arches. I personally had no problem using these buttons once I knew they were there, though I do admit to being bemused upon first taking this toy out of the box.

The vibrations from the Cirrus are, sadly, quite buzzy. I say sadly, they could have a huge amount of potential for someone who loves standard buzzy vibrations, but for me they lacked the depth I require to achieve a clitoral orgasm. That being said these vibrations did have a nice range to them—starting out as a gentle hum and turning into a mid-to-strong level buzz which did make me sneeze when held up to my nose.

While these vibrations do almost nothing to me when used on my clitoris, I was surprised to find that they were pleasant when used internally. Never too strong, nor too irritating enough to detract from whatever clitoral vibe I was simultaneously using with the Cirrus, the vibrations of this toy when used internally allowed for a nice sensation which complimented my orgasms beautifully. I wouldn’t say that the vibrations were game changing for me, but they certainly did accentuate my orgasms in a way that I didn’t anticipate.

Because of this I’ve come to enjoy the vibrations of the Cirrus internally, even if they’re not in line with my typical preferences. However if you’re mainly buying this vibe as a clitoral toy (why?) or if the vibrations are the main draw for you then you will need to factor in the buzzy nature of this vibe.

Still, to me the main draw of this toy was never the vibrations (which I regarded more as a happy bonus). No, instead it is the shape of this vibrator which drew me in, and the Cirrus didn’t disappoint in that regard.

This shaft was practically made to provide stand-out sensations.
This shaft was practically made to provide stand-out sensations.

I’ve always liked the premise of unusually shaped vibes, but some have been hits for me whereas others were colossal misses. Thankfully the Cirrus is a sure hit and I love it. Each rising arch of the Cirrus’ cloudy shaft can be felt while being inserted and, once in, the Cirrus has never failed to easily located my G-spot and put those cloud puffs to good use. The slim neck of the Cirrus compared to its mounds also allow the Cirrus to act like a vaginal plug—firmly securing the Cirrus into the perfect place for a session of satisfying stimulation.

Let me be clear, though—this is not a vibrator that I would recommend for thrusting. I personally don’t think it would be practical for that. Instead the Cirrus really comes into its own when employing the up-and-down wiggle motion or when applying firm pressure to the G-Spot. The Cirrus has a very firm form so applying pressure is no problem whatsoever.

For me the distinctive shape of the Cirrus provided equally distinctive sensations which lead to strong orgasms. These orgasms were also incredibly prolonged, which is something I attribute to the shape of the Cirrus; it’s simply made to allow each muscle contraction to roll over it in a succession of pleasure. That being said there are some downsides to the Cirrus.

The biggest downside to the Cirrus is actually its shape. If I’m really for it then I love the shape of the Cirrus, however there have been some times where my vagina has demanded a bit of a warm up to the eccentricities of the Cirrus, in which case it can feel a bit uncomfortable at first. This is, however, entirely up to how my body is feeling at the time and is not reflective of the toy’s quality.

Other problems are, equally, dictated by personal preference. If you prefer smooth toys then the Cirrus is most likely for you. Likewise if you need a toy to thrust with or a toy with deep, rumbly vibrations. The Cirrus just isn’t going to deliver in these regards.

However the biggest objective downside of the Cirrus is that those indented swirls can gather up vaginal gunk and lubricant—meaning the Cirrus requires some extra TLC. However as the Cirrus is waterproof this isn’t too much of an issue, it just takes a bit more time to get it fully cleaned.

Final Thoughts

Overall I adore the Cirrus and I’m glad that it’s part of my collection. The visuals of this toy drew me in but the shape of it kept me interested and provided consistently excellent orgasms.

I would definitely recommend this toy for anyone who likes quirky or oddly shaped sex toys, or perhaps even as a luxury gift for a daring couple.

The Cirrus’ buzzy vibrations may disappoint some but, for me, this product isn’t about its vibrations (which are a nice accompaniment rather than the main event).

Because of that I’m inclined to say that if the Cirrus appeals to you then you should give it a try. Cloud nine might soon be in sight for you too!

Recommend to:

People who like oddly shaped toys.

People who like buzzy vibrations.

Cloud enthusiasts.

Do Not Recommend to:

People who prefer standard shapes.

People who dislike buzzy vibrations.

People who like to thrust.

  • The company approached me to review this for them, they didn’t mention that any retailers carried it though. I kind of expected the cloud vibe to have a bit of squish to the silicone (kinda like Tenga Iroha), does it?
