Toy Review: The Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads

Sometimes a product is massively disappointing. Either it just doesn’t work with your body or it doesn’t look or feel as good as described or simply doesn’t seem ‘right’, for lack of a better phrase. This is not the case at all with the Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads.

I’ve been looking for a substantial pair of anal beads for quite some time now and the Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads were the answer to my sex obsessed prayers. These beads are exactly what I wanted. They fit Mr. Peaches’ body perfectly, they feel phenomenal, and they hit the nail on the head in almost every regard.

Tantus you’ve done it again and, once again, I find myself in the awkward position of essentially fan-girling over a company that gains increasing regard in my eyes. But, rest assured, I’ll try and keep my professional demeanor.

The Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads

The Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads are a set of beads specifically designed for anal use.

Anal beads aren’t exactly unknown but beginners might struggle to see the appeal of a rather daunting chain of enlarging beads so I’ll give a simple run down on why people use such products.

The essential pleasure of anal beads doesn’t necessarily come from having the beads inside of you but, instead, from inserting the beads and pulling them out. Of course lube is a must and the beads slowly increase in size. This allows users to gradually work their way up in size (experimenting with different sensations and levels of fullness) before pulling the beads out.

The insertion and removal of the anal beads stimulates the nerve endings of the sphincter (and, of course, the prostate comes into play for those who have them). Apparently pulling anal beads out at the point of climax has resulted in mind blowing orgasms for many users.

Now that we have that little intro out of the way let’s look at the product.

These anal beads provide an increasingly enjoyable sensation.
These anal beads provide an increasingly enjoyable sensation.

On first examination the Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads look like pretty standard anal beads but subtle design choices make these beads stand out from the crowd. Each of the beads have a lovely ovular shape to them which makes for a smoother insertion.

The transition from bead to cord is also very smooth so as to avoid any unnecessary discomfort. The length of cord provided in between each bead is about 1 inch and the cord is flexible until the last bead, which is followed by the toy’s neck (where the bullet resides) and a flared base.

Compared to most anal beads the ovular shape of these beads already stands out but the reasonable cord size between each bead also adds another element—making each bead seem like its own individual toy.

Tantus has listed the diameter of each of the beads on their site as follows:

1st Bead: .75″
2nd Bead: 1″
3rd Bead: 1.25″
4th Bead: 1.4″

And my measuring tape found the following max circumference for each bead:

1st Bead: 2.5″
2nd Bead: 3″
3rd Bead: 4″
4th Bead: 4.75″

The insertable length of the Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads in 11 inches, while the total (bullet tip included) is just over 12.

Like all Tantus products the Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads are made of 100% Ultra-Premium Silicone. This means that the Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads are phthalate-free, non-porous, hypoallergenic, and hygienic. In fact the beads themselves can even be boiled and bleached and are dishwasher safe (though you will have to make sure you remove the bullet before trying those three options).

The bullet provided functions well enough.
The bullet provided functions well enough.

When it comes to the bullet Tantus have included a rather standard bullet vibe which is waterproof and has two constant speeds and a pattern. The bullet itself isn’t too special but it does perform well enough. It’s buzzy but has a little bit of depth to it and travels well through the beads. The vibrations travel to the smallest bead, although they’re very gentle at that point.

What’s even better, though, is that the bullet sleeve is large enough to take the We-Vibe Tango which can pack a real punch when used in combination with these beads.

In use the Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads are a dream come true. I’ll admit, at first, I was a bit awkward and apprehensive when using them on Mr. Peaches (as all our other anal beads have been made of a firm material). For me the apprehension mostly came from the cord and from how much pressure I should reasonable apply. Like many new toys in a relationship communication was key.

However Mr. Peaches was an absolute star when it came to taking the beads. The shape really does facilitate ease of insertion and the gradual increase in size was exactly right to allow for progression (I guess the title of this toy says it all really). Mr. Peaches is used to intermediate anal toys but I think these beads would be doable for anal beginners too.

When asking Mr. Peaches how he felt about them he was very enthusiastic. ‘Amazing’ was the first word that came out of his mouth and when I started to pry I could easily understand why. Each of the beads on the Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads are firm but in a forgiving manner. This is definitely helped along by the silicone material, which is powdery smooth and soft to the touch. Because of this firm feeling Mr. Peaches could easily feel when each bead slid in to him and he loved the sensation of sliding each bead in and pulling it out.

Mr. Peaches also found that the larger beads were effective in stimulating his prostate and the largest bead left him feeling full but not uncomfortably so, resulting in further pleasure. Despite the rather lengthy aspect of these beads Mr. Peaches didn’t complain (even though he usually takes much shorter toys) so it’s also fair to say these beads are reasonably comfortable. Indeed, Mr. Peaches wore them during intercourse with no detrimental effect.

Further experimentation with the Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads also highlighted another aspect that Mr. Peaches adores.

Although the vibrations do travel to the smallest bead they logically get more prominent as you travel up the beads and closer to the vibe. Because of this Mr. Peaches found that inserting the beads while the vibrations were on added a new layer to the excitement of using this toy.

Starting with the smallest bead and feeling nought but a gentle vibration each bead progressively teases you with an increase in strength and stimulation until eventually you move your way up to the largest bead and the most intense sensations (both in size and vibration).

This ever intensifying escalation of pleasure is a very smart approach to anal beads and works fantastically in practice. Mr. Peaches always manages strong and intense orgasms with the Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads, in no smart part due to the gradual build-up of the experience.

That being said no product is perfect and, alas, this is even the case with these lovely beads.

The biggest issue I have with these beads is that they retain an odour. This is my major pet peeve with most anal toys and I feel it might be personal preference but if you’re used to anal toys having a smell when held up to the nose then you should be fine.

While the Tango does fit not everyone wants to buy extras for an already pricey toy.
While the Tango does fit not everyone wants to buy extras for an already pricey toy.

I also feel like people who like strong anal vibrations might find the Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads to be a bit weak with the provided bullet. As nice as it is to be able to insert a Tango a toy shouldn’t necessarily need an add-on in order to work to its fullest.

Mr. Peaches and I also aren’t big fans of pulling anal beads out too quickly so we can’t necessarily report on how well these beads perform when it comes to that usage. That being said Incediaire Reviews has suggested that the ovular shape of these beads means that they lack the ‘popping’ sensations of some beads upon removal. This wasn’t an issue for us at all but if it’s something you’re specifically hoping for then you may be disappointed.

As an aside I’ve also seen some people debate whether these beads provide good value for their $58.00 price tag (about £38 as of this review). £38 is quite expensive for a set of anal beads, especially when shipping is added. However as with all quality toys these beads are an investment and will last a very long time. They’re very well designed, they’re made out of the best silicone you could hope for, and they vibrate (with an opportunity to expand upon the toy by using your own bullet).

Because of this I do consider these beads to be good value for money, especially if you like what you’ve read in this review.

Final Thoughts

Overall Mr. Peaches and I really enjoyed the Tantus Vibrating Progressive Beads and they’ve made us eager to try more anal beads. At the same time we both feel like these beads would be a hard act to follow, as they fulfill their function so well.

By adding vibrations to these anal beads Tantus has added another element of the enjoyment of using them. By going slow, enjoying the sensations, and taking it all in these beads can certainly provide a memorable and highly arousing experience for anal enthusiasts.
