If there’s one thing that’s lacking in my large collection of adult products it’s massage oils. It’s is a great shame too; massage oils can be a fantastic way to relax after a hard day’s work and set the mood for an arousing night together. Getting close to your partner and learning how to please them in different ways can also increase intimacy and boost sensations that might otherwise be overlooked.
As such it was about time that I got myself a decent massage oil and, thankfully, Chemist Direct were happy to provide me with the Shunga Intimate Kisses Aphrodisiac Oil (Organica Green Tea) in exchange for an honest review.
However, as well as being a massage oil the Shunga Intimate Kisses Aphrodisiac Oil (Organica Green Tea) goes the extra mile. This delectable product is an intimate oil, a heating oil, and a flavoured oil all rolled in to one. Quite the combination!
Shunga Intimate Kisses Aphrodisiac Oil (Organica Green Tea)
Shunga as a company are wholly dedicated to creating refined and luxurious ‘intimate moment products’ . Inspired by Japan’s erotic shunga paintings, Shunga is all about capturing moments of intimacy, sexual imagination, and fantasy. This translates really well into the Shunga Intimate Kisses Aphrodisiac Oil in my opinion.
This oil can be slathered onto the skin, including (and, perhaps, especially) intimate areas for a delicate massage. A simple blow of air will then trigger a warming effect in the oil that heats up the skin. As if that wasn’t enough, this oil is also flavoured like green tea (supposedly), so you can lap it up too. With so many sensations to play around with it’s not hard to spark one’s sexual imagination when using this oil.
As well as being an intimate company Shunga is also a mindful one and all of the ingredients in this oil are organic. While this oil does contain glycerine Shunga is quick to stress that this glycerine is pure vegetable glycerine and that the oil also uses a natural corn by-product, both of which are certified organic. This is incredibly good news but doesn’t mean that this product will be suitable for everyone. More on that later.
When I received the Shunga Intimate Kisses Aphrodisiac Oil (Organica Green Tea) from Chemist Direct the first thing that stuck me was how beautiful the packaging was. The outside container for the oil features some beautiful shunga art, composed into a leaf shape—beautiful. Upon opening this container up I was greeted with a beautiful, ornate little bottle which contained the intimate oil. As I said in my Alex Dildo review, appearance can matter, and this gorgeous little bottle really helps set the mood for a lavish massage session.
In regards to scent I’m kind of on the fence when it comes to this oil. The scent is pleasant enough, but it’s far more fruity than it is green tea. There’s also a strange almost bitter after smell which isn’t necessarily appreciated. I wouldn’t say the scent was a deal-breaker but it’s not wholly pleasurable either.
Sensation-wise the Shunga Intimate Kisses Aphrodisiac Oil (Organica Green Tea) is delightful. Thick and glossy, this oil comes out of bottle with extreme ease But still maintains some density. When applied to the skin it spreads readily and allows for a very smooth massage. This oil can need reapplying if spread over a large area (such as the back) but for erogenous zones its lasting ability is just right. Using this oil on my partner was a sheer delight and the oil never felt too sticky nor too thin.
Then, of course, there’s the heating aspect.
This oil certainly lives up to its promises in this respect. A simple blow of air lit up the applied oil with a growing warmth which heightened sensitivity and arousal. In addition to warming the area upon blowing, the warmth lingers for a while afterwards, allowing for further enjoyment during other sexual acts. Mr. Peaches and I really enjoyed this aspect of the oil. Spreading it over various erogenous zones and then teasing each other with gentle breaths was really thrilling and intensely intimate. It was truly delightful.
The cherry on the cake was the flavoured aspect of this oil, which I thoroughly appreciated. Again, there isn’t much in the way of green tea to this element either, but the flavour of this oil was divine. Fruity, vibrant, and tangy, this oil balanced out its flavours in just the right way to ignite the taste buds without overwhelming them. Oh and the warming effect can also be felt while lapping this oil up—so both you and your partner are greeted with warming sensations (and the feeling of this lubricant warming up in the mouth and tongue is otherworldly).
I’m really enthusiastic about this oil but it does have a few flaws.
Obviously if you’re going to use this oil on your genitals then you’ll have to either clean yourself up before using a latex condom or will need to use an alternate method of protection. Latex and oil do not mix.
You’ll also need a wash generally after using this oil—as it lingers on the skin.
But by far the biggest downside to this oil for me is that it’s not compatible with those who have sensitive skin. Applying this oil to my vulva stung and I simply couldn’t get enjoyment from it (however I could us it one other parts of my body, so I didn’t completely miss out on the fun). Because of this I’d suggest that those with sensitive skin or existing problems with things like lubricant tread with care. This oil may be a delight but there’s a big difference between warming sensations and stinging ones.
Overall I am really happy with this oil. Providing a lot of diversity, the Shunga Intimate Kisses Aphrodisiac Oil (Organica Green Tea) allows couples to explore each other’s bodies in a fun and intimate manner. Both my partner and I adored the warming sensation of this oil (which proved to be far from a gimmick) and I adored the flavour of this delectable oil.
If only this oil was wholly compatible with my body I’d be jumping up and down with joy, but sadly those with sensitive skin may not be able to utilize this oil to its fullest.
