Toy Review: The Rose Dildo

When 6sdildo allowed me the chance to review some of their products I naturally chose the Sexy Pistol but there was one other product that instantly stood out for me. With a distinctive style that reminded me of a certain character I liked I couldn’t help but put in a request for the Rose Dildo too.

Sadly, unlike the Sexy Pistol, the Rose Dildo failed to bring me pleasure, but I do feel like there are some people it would be great for.

The Rose Dildo

Although branded under the name ‘Rose Dildo’ it’s pretty obvious what this toy’s primary purpose is. With its bulbous body (which tapers to a forgiving tip) and its beautifully flared base this product is clearly meant to be a butt plug. Heck, it’s even listed under the Butt Plug section of 6sdildo’s site. That being said there’s nothing to necessarily stop you from using this toy as a dildo, and that’s how I ended up using it myself.

The Rose Dildo is a formidable butt plug that isn't for the faint-hearted.

The Rose Dildo is made out of pyrex (borosilicate) glass—an incredibly durable material that is phthalate-free, non-porous, and completely body safe. While a fair few of my glass toys have been lighter than they looked the Rose Dildo is actually pretty hefty and has a substantial amount of weight to it. One of the benefits of glass toys is that they can be heated or cooled down for sensation play and naturally adjust to the body’s temperature when inserted.  The Rose Dildo is no exception and retains temperature well.

For me the most appealing part of this toy is the way it looks. Pictures don’t do it justice, honestly. The rose details on the base, the slight changes in hue and richness, the smooth, graceful contours, it all screams elegance to me. Every time I pick this toy up I can’t help but admire its level of quality and it brings me a sense of appreciation that has me eager to insert it.

The beautiful form and colours of this dildo really shine through in person.

But, as I said in the intro, the Rose Dildo and I did not get along.

Having seen the measurements for the Rose Dildo online I was a bit surprised at how big it was but still confident that it was manageable. With a maximum circumference of just over 6 inches (slightly bigger than that of my NobEssence Seduction) I felt like it wouldn’t take much to warm up to the Rose Dildo. I was wrong. Oh so wrong. The combined weight and material of the Rose Dildo meant that inserting it from the get-go was basically impossible for me, even with an excessive amount of lube.

The measurements for the Rose Dildo seemed large but not unmanageable.

Undeterred I decided to do a few sessions where I would warm-up with smaller toys and then build my way up to the Rose Dildo. My progression included the Tantus Cush, followed by the NobEssence Seduction, then the Rose Dildo. I could eventually insert this toy but not without a lot of work and, quite frankly, inserting a removing it was painful—it stung, no matter how relaxed and lubricated I was.

This really perplexed me at first. After all, I can go straight to the large side of the NobEssence Seduction with almost no issue or warm-up, so why was the Rose Dildo causing me such trouble? Well, to me it really does come down to weight and material (like I said before). While glass can make for a smooth and sleek insertion it can also be very unforgiving. There is no give in the material at all, and the hard, rigid form of the Rose Dildo became a hindrance rather than a helper to insertion.

The main factor, though, definitely seemed to be the weight—which was a constant and hefty presence during use. More often than not it felt like the Rose Dildo wanted to sink into me under the sheer pressure of its weight but I wanted a much gentler insertion and would try and place it in with more finesse. Yet, no matter how careful I was, it always felt like the weight of the Rose Dildo was battling against me and trying to force itself into me. It proved to be very uncomfortable in the end.

Now, while I didn’t get any enjoyment out of the Rose Dildo, I did manage to get a good idea of how it feels, and this is what I concluded:

Once inserted the weight and the material are still the two most prevalent factors. Sure, the curve of the Rose Dildo will help stimulate areas that need such an arc, but mainly you’ll be feeling full up because of the heftiness of the toy.Because of this size queens or those who love heavy toys will probably reap the benefits of the Rose Dildo and find pleasure where I failed to, just don’t stand up when using this toy (the flared base is also very heavy, so I wouldn’t trust it not to try and slide out).

The flared base is also quite weighty.

My partner did try to insert this toy anally but it proved to be too big for him. As such this is a plug best left to intermediate and experienced butt plug users.

Final Thoughts

The Rose Dildo has no real ‘faults’ to it and the biggest issue I had with it was that it was simply too much for me. However, if you’re someone who can take larger glass toys and appreciates the idea of a hefty butt or vaginal plug then you might have more luck with the Rose Dildo than me.

So, in short, know your limits and don’t let the beauty of this toy alone lure you in. This is not a toy for beginners and even some veteran toy users (like me) may struggle with this beautiful plug.
