Keep Burning have a very strong track record of valuing silicone when it comes to sex toys. As such it stands to reason that they’d also have their own silicone lubricant too, and that it would keep up with their self-set high standards. Enter B12 Silicone.
B12 Silicone Lubricant
Keep Burning’s B12 Silicone Lubricant is a pretty decent lube that I have no real complaints about. Actually I really like it. Advertised as ‘energy silicone’ B12 Silicone is paraben-free, glycerin-free, odour free, and skin safe. Its intended use is as a lubricant (naturally) but its packaging also say that it’s good for massages and skin hydrations, which I can believe.
This lubricant has seven different ingredients, which sounds like a lot until you realize that four of those are actually different kinds of vitamin that have been added to nurture the skin. The three different silicone ingredients are Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, and Cyclomethicone. Meanwhile the vitamins are as follows:
Vitamin A- Supposedly very good for nurturing the skin and stimulating the dermis. Used a lot in moisturisers and facial cream.
Vitamin B12- The vitamin this lubricant is named for. When applied to the skin it’s possible that B12 might help against eczema.
Vitamin C- Another one that is used a lot in facial and anti-aging creams, Vitamin C is said to help keep skin smooth and firm.
Vitamin E- Good for moisturising the skin and helping it retain its natural moisture.
While doing some research on Vitamin B12 I also found out that B12 can boost your mood and energy when ingested. I assume this is Why B12 Silicone is advertising itself as ‘energy silicone’ but I don’t think you’d get the benefits simply by skin contact. Still the vitamins provided offer a nice line-up of benefits for your skin, so they provide a real bonus (and also explains why B12 Silicone would make a great massage product).
As always I did the usual scent and taste test on B12 Silicone and it passed with flying colours. There’s no odour to B12 Silicone at all and barely any taste. I think I detected a minute amount of sweetness but, honestly, it was so minor that it could have been my mind playing trick on me.
B12 Silicone feels divine on my skin. It’s so silky smooth and with that delightful powdery softness that I’ve come to expect from silicone lubricants.
B12 Silicone stays on the skin well and provides long-lasting lubrication but, when you’re done, you can literally just rub it into your skin and get a velvety feeling that feels like a luxury skin oil. It’s quite nice.Alternatively you can wash B12 Silicone off, but you will need some soap and water for this—as silicone is notorious for its staying power. I have to say that B12 Silicone didn’t seem as difficult to wash out as some silicone lubricants I’ve tried, so that’s another point in favour of this lubricant.
During use B12 Silicone provided the perfect amount of lubrication both during toy sessions and intercourse.
Intercourse was where B12 Silicone really shone for me—as it allowed for ongoing lubrication while also heightening sensation. I think a lot of this comes down to texture. Water-based lubricant is great but it does tend to be conventionally wet and slippery whereas the smooth, velvety consistency of most silicone lubricants allows for a slick experience without necessarily feeling wet. Not to knock the wonders of water-based lube, not at all, but sometimes it’s nice to switch up the sensations, and it was a pleasure to do so with B12 Silicone.
The downsides to B12 Silicone are the same you would expect from most silicone lubricants—it’s very runny, it needs to be washed off to get rid of it, it can’t be used with silicone toys, and it can cause some clean-up problems (eg. marks on the sheets).
One issue that is specific to B12 Silicone is that its packaging isn’t the best for a silicone-based lubricant. B12 Silicone is runny so it doesn’t really work well with its rather flimsy packaging. The nozzle for B12 Silicone is also very wide, so pouring out a small amount of lube instead of a hand-full is quite challenging.
Other than the packaging there is much to be said against B12 Silicone. If you like silicone lubricants you’ll probably like B12 Silicone. If you don’t then this probably won’t be able to sway your judgements.
Overall I really like the sensations that B12 Silicone provides. It’s soft, silky smooth, and caresses the body with silicone goodness (and some added vitamins to boot). Fans of silicone lubricant should definitely give B12 Silicone a try and, at 6.90€ for 75ml, it’s pretty good value for money to compared to other brands. Good one Keep Burning!
