Porn Review: Crashpad’s Guide to Fisting

I am very happy to give The Crash Pad Series pride of place as the first porn I’ve ever reviewed.

I mentioned The Crash Pad Series in my first ‘Some Thoughts On…’ segment, but I’ll give a brief summary of them here too.

The Crash Pad Series was inspired by the award winning feminist queer porn movie, The Crash Pad. It is in this movie that the premise for the scenarios of The Crash Pad Series are explained.

What makes The Crash Pad Series really stand out for me is its celebration of queer sexuality, its inclusion of people of all shapes and sizes, its use of safer sex practices, its use of toys during play, and its down-to-earth performances. It’s fair to say that there’s a lot to love about The Crash Pad Series.

The Crashpad’s Guide to Fisting is the response of The Crash Pad Series to the immense amount of interest they get in fisting. Apparently the most common search term on CrashPadSeries.com is fisting, so there’s quite a demand. The Crashpad’s Guide to Fisting is both an informative guide-video and a racy porn in its own right, and it walks these lines with an effective grace.

The couple sit down and get ready to watch some previous episodes.
The couple sit down and get ready to watch some previous episodes.

The guide starts with a couple sitting down to watch an earlier episode of The Crash Pad Series (Episode 46: Mariah Cherry and Maybelline) that involves fisting. The couple is played by Lorelei Lee and Beretta James. In this guide Beretta plays a beginner to fisting, whereas Lorelei acts as the more experienced partner who is eager to explore fisting with her lover.

The first noticeable part of the Crashpad’s Guide to Fisting is the use of other Crash Pad episodes in the guide. These episodes are used as a demonstration which Lorelei uses to entice Beretta to try fisting herself, as well as to educate her on some common practices.

This decision is an incredibly smart move on the Crash Pad’s part. Not only does this allow them to showcase some of their other porn but it also reflects the position that the viewer might be in. I mean the reason that The Crash Pad Series decided to make this guide is because fisting was such a popular search term. I won’t hazard to guess how many couples sat down in a similar manner to Beretta and Lorelei and contemplated fisting themselves, but it’s fair to assume there were a lot. So to have the performers essentially act out the viewer’s position is a very astute choice.

Watching previous episodes is intermingled with useful information.
Watching previous episodes is intermingled with useful information.

Throughout watching a few previous episodes (of which the audience also get treated to in the form of snippets) the couple discuss fisting techniques, the uses of fisting, and some other important points. While not all of the details of fisting are discussed, it really does feel as if a couple are honestly sitting down and exploring the idea of fisting for the first time together. Because of this the information given is relayed in a very natural way and the ‘show don’t tell’ rule is effectively intermingled with a more direct approach.

The performer's antics come off as very natural and likeable.

‘Natural’ is a word I’d use for this guide. The couple laugh, learn, and experience things together in a very organic way, and it feels very similar to how a couple might first react when confronted with the idea of attempting to fist for the first time. At the very beginning of this video Beretta makes the sweet but concerned admission, “I don’t wanna hurt you”, and the sincerity of the performance portrays a sense of relatability that pulls you right in.

Once the couple has finished looking at previous Crash Pad episodes the rest of the guide keeps its sincerity as the two start to explore each other’s bodies and the potential of fisting.

Having watched some previous episodes, the two start to venture into playing out their own fantasies.

I won’t ruin this segment for anyone, but I will say that it’s very well done. There is a heavy emphasis on communication, intimacy, and, most importantly, knowing when to stop for a while if things get too intense. I really can’t praise this guide enough for its heavy incorporation of communication and I think it’s a large part of why this guide is so great. The guide also highlights the importance of safer sex practices and the use of sex toys in subtle ways. Both of these elements are simply part of the guide, without having too much attention put on them—and it is because they are such an intrinsic but unspoken element in the guide that they are so effective.

In addition to this the Crashpad’s Guide to Fisting is incredibly hot.

Once the couple start to explore with each other, the guide becomes a learn-through-seeing experience (much like the previous Crashpad epsiodes were for them) and the viewer is both educated and titillated. The Crashpad’s Guide to Fisting not only teaches you about fisting but also makes you want to try yourself and warms you up in preparation.

One hot and steamy scene later, the couple demonstrates the importance of post-sex intimacy.

That being said, there are some downsides to the Crashpad’s Guide to Fisting.

The major downside to the guide is that, because it shows older episodes, some of the video quality is a bit low and a bit grainy. While this makes sense within the context of the guide (seeing as they are watching older episodes) it can still pull you out of the mood when the video makes sudden changes in quality.

The other downside to the guide is that it isn’t an extensive guide to fisting. However, I don’t think this matters too much. At the end of the day the Crashpad’s Guide to Fisting is a great jumping off point for couples who might want to try fisting themselves, and contains a lot of good information to start with. If people are interested then they can do their own research, but the Crashpad’s Guide to Fisting provides all it needs to in the almost 29 minutes that it has to use.

Final Thoughts

The Crashpad’s Guide to Fisting is a great way to bridge the gap between porn and sex education. It educates but also excites and it does both jobs well. While I’m not sure that the Crashpad’s Guide to Fisting would be anyone’s go-to material for a more carefree masturbation session it’s not really intended for this purpose, so I think that’s forgivable.

At the end of the day the Crashpad’s Guide to Fisting provides a fun, approachable, and natural way for couples to learn about fisting while also getting in the mood and becoming less intimidated about the prospect as a whole.

The Crashpad’s Guide to Fisting also has a very good little ending which is both informative and funny and which I refuse to spoil. All I can say is go watch it. It’s a good watch for anyone interested in the idea of fisting.
